Wondering why 'Robert 'Joe' Halderman,' 'Larry King Live Jon Gosselin,' 'Emma Stone' and 'Amy Brenneman Leaving Private Practice' are surging in Google Trends? We can shed some light on the mystery. Google Trends provides the 40 hottest keywords of the hour, and though the results change frequently, at any given time the list offers a great snapshot of what's on people's minds when it comes to pop culture. Here are the hottest trending topics today...
Amy Brenneman Leaving Private Practice - So... is she or isn't she? The show's third season premiered last night and fans want to know if Violet is getting the boot. She isn't, sources say. But nobody's all that convinced. Apparently she thought last season's story was unrealistic (would a 40-year-old mother really decline a genetic test to discover her baby's daddy?) and she's got bigger fish to fry. Brenneman is the face of Dove, you know.Robert Joe Halderman - Yikes. There are about ten keywords on Google trends this morning relating to the David Letterman extortion attempt. Must be big news. Or you must just enjoy it when a big-time celeb reveals an elaborate illegal ruse to pry $2 million from his bank account. The late night host looked the camera in the eye on his show last night (do cameras have eyes? Whatever.) and said "Do you feel like a story?" What followed was a full account of the extortion attempt by a longtime '48 Hours' employee (named Robert "Joe" Halderman, though early reports suggested the man was John Halderman) in which he threatened to out Letterman as an adulterer if he didn't fork up the massive quantity of cash. It's all out in the open now. The bad guy is behind bars. You're Googling like crazy about the incident. And maybe you trust Letterman a little bit more, despite his admitted philandering. Honesty is a funny thing.
Larry King Live Jon Gosselin - Things just got a whole lot uglier on the 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' front. Jon Gosselin appeared on 'Larry King Live' last night to accuse TLC of violating child labor laws by inadequately compensating his kids for their on-camera work and filming without a permit. TLC got the message, having halted filming on the now-titled 'Kate Plus 8' after receiving a cease and desist letter from Jon's lawyer. The Daddy, currently embroiled in a messy divorce from Kate, told King the idea to intervene in the filming came as an "epiphany." Kate says his intentions aren't so well meaning. In her statement, she said "Jon has never expressed any concerns to me about our children being involved in the show."
Emma Stone - Wow there's a lot of hype for this itty bitty zombie movie. Yesterday you guys begged the Internuts for the name of 'Zombieland's' big secret cameo. The day before you were Googling like mad to hunt down info on Jesse Eisenberg. And today you're seeking out Emma Stone, whom you'll discover was also in 'Superbad,' 'The House Bunny,' and if Google has anything to say about it (it always does), a zillion movies in the future.Rodrigo y Gabriela - Hey, look at that. A musical act on Google trends that doesn't show their boobies or cater specifically to tweens. There really is hope for us. Rodrigo y Gabriela are a Mexican guitar duo who specialize in playing fast, awesome, flamenco inspired acoustic rock. Maybe you're hunting them down after first hearing about how they got snubbed as Conan's musical guest after he cracked his skull and the episode had to be canceled. Maybe you're one of the 4.4 million people who have seen their 'Stairway to Heaven' on YouTube and you wanna see it one more time. Maybe you just like good music. Googlers of the world, today you get a little credit.
Michael Alig - No idea why you're Googling this has-been. OK, he never even really was a was. Alig was a notorious party boy in the 1980s, gaining fame for killing his buddy, chopping off his legs and throwing his mutilated corpse in the Hudson while in a drug-induced rage. Alig was portrayed by none other than Macaulay Culkin in the 2003 cinematic abortion 'Party Monster,' and he's due to be released from prison next year. Yesterday TMZ compared The Killers' Brandon Flowers to Alig in a "We're Just Saying" bit and now you wanna know just who the heck this weird looking dude is.

I wouldn't use this word. The relationship was before David Letterman was married.

Letterman did the right thing. Whoever he has sex with doesn't matter. Being blackmailed by a co-worker has to be extremely hard for him. Letterman handled the situation exactly right.

I watch Keeping Up With The Kardashians but meeting and marrying someone you've only known for a month doesn't sound like it's the type of relationship that will last so it's really not that exciting. The Polanski Rape Scandal is downright maddening due to the fact that quite a few in Hollywood don't classify it as Rape-Rape and think it's nothing more than a nusiance legal issue. Jon Gosslein is a real Butt-Head and now to hear that he stole money from their bank account, I hope Kate does get him behind bars for contempt of court.
