If reports of Simon Cowell's birthday bash are to be believed, we might as well hang up our birthday candles this year - no party could possibly compare to the extravaganza honoring the 'American Idol' judge's 50 years. The Daily Mail reports that Cowell, surrounded by 400 guests, had the most luxurious party imaginable - with a $1.5 million price tag.Cowell celebrated his birthday with A-list guests, precorded birthday wishes from stars like the Beckhams and Jennifer Aniston displayed on giant screens, an image of Cowell himself projected onto the front of the building - and a tank of mini-sharks. We can't imagine what Cowell wished for when he blew out the candles.
In addition to 'Idol' co-stars Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest, Cowell also partied with models Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. Olivia Newton-John, Kevin Space, and Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber were in attendance.
Sir Elton John. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, and Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon were unable to make the bash - along with 'Britain's Got Talent's' most famous runner-up, Susan Boyle, who reportedly called Cowell personally to decline the invitation with regrets.

Does this means Oprah will have to increase her party guest list to beat the $1.5 million dollar price tag come her next birthday? Didn't Oprah's self gratifying, everyone loves me (especially me) party cost $1 million? When there are over 90,000 homeless in LA alone (many of whom are chldren), isn't it great to know that the self centered, self important, self loving, egotistical celebrity crowd still value their existence more important then homeless children who have no roof over their head or food to eat? Just warms your heart. Happy Birthday to Simon Cowell.

This is how it always has been and will always be. This is the Hollywood way even though the party was in London. In all fairness, I am pretty sure that Simon Cowell gives a large amount of money to help the less fortunate. In fact that has been reported on several different announcements via AOL, American I and other. Here is the saddest part of this, if these people don't turn their hearts onward and upwards towards God and live a life that honors Him then the million dollar birthday parties are going to be the closest to heaven they will ever see.

As a percentage of expendable income these stars, such as Oprah, give very little. Yes the amounts seem large compared to the average persons income but they are minimal compared to the yearly income of Oprah ($200 million per year.)Bottom line you do not become a billionaire by giving your money away. If Oprah wanted she could easily give away 150 million per year. Although you cannot buy 60 million dollar homes by doing that. It is her money and her choice but people should make the correct comparision. The average person gives away a far greater portion of expendable income than Oprah.

Simon has the bucks so if he wants to splurge he can. Birthdays are to be celebrated no matter which one it is. Fifty certainly is a milestone & I wish him a very happy birthday & 50 more.
He provided a good time for a lot of other people as well as himself. Celebrate, Simon, as long as you can.

Although in England, not here, the money still goes out to alot of people that needed the work, i.e. waiters, caterers, set up people. So what is the big fuss? It's his money and he can spend it how he chooses. I'm sure he gives to charity, and if not its really his business.
