Backstreet Boys' Brian Littrell Diagnosed With Swine Flu

The Backstreet Boys have been forced to cancel their New York City promotional tour because member Brian Littrell has been diagnosed with the swine flu. The other three members -- Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean -- have seen a doctor and are not showing any symptoms.

"We were really looking forward to spending time with our closest fans and friends in NYC... I hope we can come back soon and do everything we can to help," Littrell said in a statement Monday.

As a preventive measure, the doctor prescribed Tamiflu to the group and their touring party, who had just returned to the states from Tokyo.

The pop band were forced to cancel several of their New York appearances, including their NYC Hard Rock Cafe signing and the group's CBS 'Early Show' performance on Tuesday October 6th. Both will be rescheduled for a later date. The rest of the band's promotional schedule for this week has not been determined.

The Backstreet Boys were in New York in support of their new album 'This Is Us' -- out October 6th on Jive Records.

Chris, that was completely juvenile and uncalled for. What has Brian Littrell ever done to you? He's a good, decent man who sings beautifully with is group, the Backstreet Boys. If you aren't a fan of the music, just don't listen. Posting hateful comments like that only prove how much more maturing you need to do to become an adult.

I can't even count how many times that I assisted my daughter in getting tickets to the Backstreet Boys concert. They were in Charlotte,N.C. we went to see them the net two days there were in Alabama. We were driving towards Alabama, calling all contacts that we knew to get tickets. We got next to the stage and she was thrilled. They didn't resort to anything nasty or gritty to sell records. The only nasty thing that I saw was them wiping their sweat with a towel and throwing it in the audience. The Parents, not the kids, were fighting for it.She was 14 then. Now, she is 21 and I would love to have that close relationship. BackStreet Back alright......
