Kate Says Jon Bled Their Bank Account: 'I Have a Stack of Bills'

Jon Gosselin has teed up a major court battle with his soon-to-be ex-wife following his unauthorized withdrawal of thousands of dollars from the duo's money market account, RadarOnline.com reported on Sunday. According to reports, he only left around $1,000 in the account. Kate Gosselin was on the 'Today' show on Monday and put the figure at $230,000.

"When you've left your children and their mother unable to pay for the roof over their heads, it's not acceptable," she said. Kate told Meredith Vieira that this wasn't the first time Jon took money out without asking. "He had done it a few days before I filed for divorce," she said. "He didn't empty it completely, but it was enough that I was afraid."

Kate predicted this would happen, so she earlier put $100,000 of the account aside -- to "keep it safe" and to "buy my kids food if needed." But she put it back because the couple's separation agreement forbids either of them from withdrawing without the authorization of the other.

"I have a stack of bills in my purse that I can't drop in the mail," Kate said in the emotional interview.

She has hired lawyer Marty Singer to go after Jon and to possibly hold him in contempt for defying an existing order prohibiting such bank withdrawals. Singer has also singled out Jon's lawyer, Mark Heller, who last week said he wanted to "become friends" with Kate in order to smooth the divorce proceedings.

Singer tells Radar, "If the money is not immediately returned, we will be looking into potential claims against Mr. Heller if he had any involvement with the violation of the court order.

"It is very disappointing that Jon Gosselin has escalated this to such an ugly place that her lawyers have to do everything they can to protect her and her children from his outrageous actions."

TMZ obtained a letter written by Singer addressed to Heller that calls the withdrawal "outrageous" and singles out Heller as having a financial motive. The letter accuses Heller of directing one of his other divorce clients to "withdraw everything that's in the bank" so the money could pay his fee.

Singer expects Kate's family law attorney in Pennsylvania will go to court Monday morning to demand the money returned.

He tells PEOPLE that Kate learned about the withdrawal after receiving overdraft notices. She apparently pays household bills with that account.

This latest scandal was just the cherry on top of a chaotic week for the couple. Their TLC series changed its name from 'Jon and Kate Plus 8' to 'Kate Plus 8,' then had its production halted after Jon filed a cease and desist order.

Wake up ppl, shes greedy puts cash before her kids. how? Last year they both claimed to "get out" of lime light, For the kids. The women cant, she needs attention and a pay check from the show at the expence of her kids.The kids now are old enough to ask questions. Kate just needs to tell um shes a cash whore.
Jon is just a dip chit. Yes, he also greeds up for the cash but now hes pissed . why? The dummy realized he got screwed makin 1 mil./yr. The show grosses 160 mil./yr. So big Jon is now poutin. Its not about kids its about greed. Both parents suck !

I agree with you completely. If the money is not to be touched. Why is she paying bills with it. Something sounds amist. She is lying and women are to blind to see it. By the way I am a woman and a mother of 3. How many insufficiate funds notices did she get? Read this carefully, the money is not to be touched by either paty. THINK LADIES!!!! PLEASE.

you have to think that this is the income they have for 8 kids, and there is no way he is about to start paying child support. and haven't you thought it's strange that he only had this fit when they announced that his name was coming off the show. she's not my favorite person at all but you have to see that he's being completely irrational

Kate has a job!!!!!!! Raising 8 Children. She has also written a book, and does other things.. He is just a loser and obviously a dead beat Dad... Kate at least has her priorities straight... Jon's behavior just keeps getting worse and worse and pretty soon he will be left with nothing.

Kate looks pretty good,now. Apparently, Jon doesn't care to find a job, like most people, and intends on making more money off his 8 children. Therefore, he should be stripped from all his millions and live on the streets where he picks up his "new cliente" and stay out of Kate's life and her children. How can he keep exploiting his children to support his nasty habits? And...he keeps saying "Every thing's for the welfare of these 8 kids". He has shown he deserves non of the blessings GOD gave him w/these little ones. He will one day regreat all these actions. It's the kids he's hurting and clearly he doesn't care: and what woman would want to be with someone so scroungy and self-centered? These woman need to get out of his pockets and date a real man. May God shield tbese children from a wicked father.

Before it was known that the Gosselins were having trouble I thought that I could see a change in the expression on Jon's face. He looked corrupt and mean on his motorcycle. I thought that he had profoundly changed but everyone was in a debate about the dynamics of his and Kate's relationship. Kate was the meanie and Jon just left that unchallenged. I feel as if we never really knew him. He has started hanging out with the likes of Michael Lohan and acting like a different kind of man than I thought that he was. Now he is stealing the household money from his children. Kate never protected those accounts which I think shows that she can't keep up with the moral decline in her ex husband. He will have to answer to his kids someday when they are older but really I don't think that there is anything decent left in him that cares. Kate may have been grumpy but Jon has gone to another level and its pretty low.

Ummmm...let's see...it's going to cost about 1.6 million to send 8 kids to college. And Kate is greedy? LOL, I think she is a good mom who is looking after the best interest of the children. If you will read the article, the Joint Account was protected by a Court Order that NEITHER Jon or Kate could take money out of this account without the consent of the other. Jon showed his lack of morals and concerns for the welfare of his family by taking $200,000 out without Kate's knowledge. Jon is in BIG TROUBLE - he will be held in Contempt of Court for Violating this Court Order! I hope the Judge throws his behind in jail - where he belongs. What underhanded tactic is left for Jon to pull? TLC is right in getting him off the show and amending the name to Kate Plus Eight. All those kids belong with her and Jon shouldn't even have visitation rights. The way he has conducted his left since their separation clearly shows there is only one person Jon cares about - himself.

What a meltdown. It is not entertining anymore. It is pathetic. Get them off the air, out of the gossip mags, off the computer, and out of sight. Jon and Kate need to look for work before their money runs out. They both are losers and hosers. The economy is in the tank and finding work is like finding teeth on a rooster. Seriously, they both need to get a day job, and raise the 8 kids who are geting messed up more and more every day by this pathetic saga.

I can't wait until their Divorce becomes final and Jon is left with nothing!!!!!! He doesn't even deserve visitation rights as his morals are in the gutter and he has shown he doesn't even care if Kate has enough money to pay the mortgage on their home and put food on the table. Kate is doing everything possible to keep the kids lives as unsettled as possible and Jon is doing everything he can think of to strike out at Kate and hurt the kids. Someone needs to tell him that you NEVER, NEVER violate a Court Order - when you do, it is called Contempt of Court and you can go to jail.
