Penelope and Javier ... Fit to Be Tied?

It looks like the rumors are true. Academy Award winners Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are informing friends they are engaged, according to reports from the NY Daily News and US Magazine.

"They're telling friends they will get married," said an unnamed friend who was told the news directly from one member of the ultra private couple. The nuptial news is shocking to many fans. "They tried to keep it very private and quiet," said a source regarding the couple's courtship which began most recently in 2007. They met while co-starring in 1992's 'Jamon, Jamon' and their steamy sex scenes started the gossip mills turning.

A wedding is especially startling to Cruz fans. She shared her doubts about the institution last August. "I don't know if I believe in marriage," Cruz revealed to UK's Psychologies magazine. "I believe in family, love and children," she continued.

Rumors that Cruz is pregnant have recently surfaced. "They say the pregnancy stories aren't true," says a doubtful friend. Cruz and Bardem were photographed leaving an OB/GYN clinic in Madrid earlier this month.

Although she has showed ambivalence towards marriage, Cruz has been enthusiastic about motherhood. "When I [have children], I want to do it really well," shared Cruz. "I want it to be my best project in life."

Bardem, 40, won an Academy Award for his lead role in the Coen brother's 'No Country for Old Men' opposite Josh Brolin. It was the first by a Spanish-born actor. Cruz, 35, won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Bardem's mentally unstable ex-wife in Woody Allen's 'Vicky Christina Barcelona,' the second for a Spaniard. She has been romantically linked to A-List actors Tom Cruise and Matthew McConaughey.

Yep, look at Johnny and Vanessa! They truly have surpassed the record for sure! Congrats to them, not to say, they have 2 gorgeous kids, Lily Rose and Jack! Johnny has had his run of women, but think when he found Vanessa, this was it for him. Jusst hope they continue to keep out of the spot light, keep low key and all will be great. I just ask that Johnny make more movies...who else AGREES? Love Johnny Depp!

Javier Bardem is hot and sexy! I wish them lots of happiness together. I understand how she may have felt about marriage when she said last year that she wasn't sure she believed in it... I didn't either when I got married. EVERYONE in my family was divorced, my grandparents, my parents, my brother, my aunt and uncle... but, I loved my husband and took the leap, but really didn't expect it to last, because I didn't think marriage lasted. But, here I we are, 31 years later, happy with three well-adjusted, happy, successful grown children. Go for it, Penelope! When it's right, you know.

Such a union by Depp and Paradis is one in a hundred in Hollywood, with or without marriage. I have seen Depp wearing crosses and thanking God in interviews, so if they aren't agnostic/atheists like most of the filth in Hollywood, why WOULDN'T they get married? Because they're too big to take part in a simple ages-old ceremony? Good luck to them explaining to their kids why they wouldn't make a final commitment to each other. I also fail to see the point of Bardem's looks, or whether or not he's Spanish. Both of them are very fine English speakers and actors even if the movies they play in don't always measure up to this.

What makes them sexy isn't having a prefect nose and empty personality, but a charm that adds beauty which you wouldn't understand unless you have had the experience. I have dated man of a few nationalities and the most intriguing men are european, such as Italians, Portuguese man, spanish men, Some French (they talk too much), and greeks are very intriguing and other nationalities. I have been dating an Irish guy and am about to die of boredom. He's empty and thinks living to the fullest is getting drunk everyday and going to work as if he's a robbot. No excitement, no passion, no life. Unless I leave I fear he'll hypnotize to become the same. Give me a Havier any day. These man love life, and move around, are romantic and ounce committed are very faithfull and relationships with them actaully grow. Not saying all Irish man are the same, don't know, but am looking forward to changing man types. Woman like go getters, not weeken couch potatoes, those we can buy at the market a dime a dozen.
