A performance of the Broadway show 'The Royal Family' was cut short Sunday when one of its stars, veteran actor Tony Roberts, began speaking incoherently.

Ellen Belson, an audience member, told the New York Times that producers lowered the curtain after the 69-year-old Roberts began "mumbling and talking gibberish" shortly after the show began. "At first I thought it was part of the show," she said.

Moments later, a staffer asked the audience if there were any doctors in the house. Three came forward. At that, an announcement was made that the show had been canceled.
