Nolte Nabbed for DUI, Just Like Dad

Brawley Nolte, son of Hollywood star Nick Nolte, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and suspicion of driving under the influence, according to TMZ.

Brawley rammed into another vehicle while making a lane change in Santa Monica yesterday afternoon, stated law enforcement officials.

Police tested Brawley for sobriety, seeing signs of impairment. Officers later made an arrest, and bail has been set at $5,000.

The elder Nolte, 68, is known for his diverse roles in '48 Hours,' 'Prince of Tides' and 'Affliction,' the last two earning him Academy Award nominations. His later work was eclipsed by a bizarre arrest for DUI in 2002 and an infamous mugshot showing him disheveled and disoriented.

Brawley, 23, is also an actor; he played Mel Gibson's kidnapped son in 1996's 'Ransom.'

Gee...you would think Nick Nolte's son would have learned from dear old dad's mistakes. I have no sympathy when it comes to celebrity children gone bad. They have more going fo them than the average child would ever have in a lifetime. It's so pathetic!!!

I lived next to Nick when he lived in Minnesota and acted at the Old Log Theatre (before Rich Man Poor Man) He is a nice guy and just like the rest of us has had some bad days and good days. We all seem to have problems with our kids from time to time . It is part of growing up. Glad his son is safe.

Alcoholism is an inherited trait. If you suffer from this disease do not have children. Think of how they will suffer. Almost all of my family decided not to have children to stop this horror we suffered from, from being passed on.There is no cure, and no social acceptance (like diabeties). We are the lepers today. And a reason for "rehab" shows on Tv. Make them money. Look into the real depths of this disease, it is devistating. Today it is a TV show. SICK

Drinking IS a choice. But when one drinks as an ability to function with life; that makes it a disease or ALCOHOLISM. Like gambling as being uncontrollable; makes it a disease. Diseases can be behavioral as well as physical.

You would think that he had learned from his dad's mistakes huh? No such luck. Maybe he was just trying to make a name for himself away from his dad. I think that is the problem with famous peoples kids. They have too much time on their hands and have access to way too much money. You know what they say. Live and learn.

A DUI is a joke. The guy probaly had a few drinks at a party and drove home. Big deal.

With all due respect, they said nothing about arresting him for alcohol, it clearly stated a "controlled substance" which tells me it was something other than alcohol. Thought I would just point that out to all you who are going on about alcohol related situations.

...excuse me I meant to say he was arrested for "possession of a controlled substance," which tells me it wasn't alcohol.
