Travolta Blackmail Trial Turns Into 'A Few Good Men'

The extortion trial surrounding the death of
John Travolta's son turned into a reading of 'A Few Good Men' on Tuesday after the actor's lawyer channeled
Jack Nicholson to bring the court to laughter. The moment occurred when defense attorney Murrio Ducille accused Travolta's attorney Michael McDermott of entrapment.
"I suggest, Mr. McDermott, that you sought to give birth to an extortion plot but it was stillborn," Ducille said at Bahamas Supreme Court.
"And I suggest that you can't handle the truth," McDermott volleyed back.
According to the
New York Daily News, the courtroom "burst out in gasps and laughter as Judge Anita Allen called for order."
Travolta has testified twice in the case against Tarino Lightbourne, a medic who threatened to sell stories to the media suggesting the actor was at fault in the death of his 16-year-old son, Jett. A second defendant, Pleasant Bridgewater, a former Bahamas senator, allegedly negotiated with the actor's lawyers for the medic. Both defendants have pleaded not guilty.
The trial began Sept. 21 and is expected to last several weeks.

Hey KELLY,
I'm praying for a decrease in your pain. You seem to be one of the only clear thinkers on here.
I'm also praying for the Travoltas and an ease in their daily struggles, whatever they may be.

Why do you feel that the Travolta's are responsible for the death of their son? YOU KNOW NOTHING about their personal life, only what the media WANTS and CHOSES to tell you, they blow everything up to make it seem bad. None of us know how, why and what the Travolta's did or did not do for their son. You are all only making assumptions based upon your prejudices against them because they are scientologists. That is what this country was founded on, freedom of religion, they get to chose whatever they want to do. Again, we know nothing personal about the Travolta's and what their family situation was and is. Leave them alone.

read todays news a judge sentenced both parents
to jail time because of their negligence in withholding proper medical care for their daughter.
she died because of this. your freedom of religion
should not be allowed in the case of minor children. if you want to make this decision for your self and you are an adult so be it. its a good thing the travoltas were in the bahamas when this happened
How do you know John Travolta did not give his child the medicines he needed? Are you basing your opinions on what the media has said? We all know what the media says is complete fact! Were you there to witness him NOT giving him the meds? His doctor told you this information? John has admitted to not giving him the meds he need? Well anything else is just trying to create a news story regardless how true it might or might not be.

I noticed that Karen Anne has no "reply" function and it's obvious why. Her opinions are stated in such a nasty and hostile manner, she porbably would not want to read a reply. Why, oh why, do people have such rage when it comes to other people's opinions? Perhaps it's because of her side effects from all the meds...life can be very difficult, but why take it out on others?

The child was on medication for seizures. For all of you criticizing the parents for the care they gave him....shut up. You do not know anything about what they did for their child and it is none of your business so shut up.

I just want to reiterate, in case it was missed- I said "IF" the Travolta's are guilty of essentially the same thing... This opinion was based not only on the information supplied by the media, but also on the track record of Scientologists' general disdain for the use of medicine/drugs. Case in point; Tom Cruise's berating of Brook Shields, for her use of anti-depressants.

These people who make the comments,
I hate the way some of them talk to each other.
Very unkind, and unnecessary

I, for one, am Christian,,, however, not "above" reading. I am an information gatherer. I have purchased 2 books on scientology, and have found them "more than remarkable". I have found, (because I checked it out for myself, something I highly recommend ), that there is something remarkable about scientology. I have found it is "not a religion" so to speak. Although I do not know exactly what to term it, it really is not a religion. However, I find very much truth of a kind in it. Now let me tell you, that what J. Travolta has done with his own son has nothing to do with this scientology. You must read about these things ( not what you hear, and the general hype),, but take an unusual action, and purchase a book, and absorb some information. If you had read only the couple things I have,,, you would know scientology has nothing what so ever to do with this tragedy. I am not a scientologist,, but I at least understood the concept. I hope to hear more from the literate.

I AM ON 3 DIFFERENT SIEZURE MEDS AND I STILL HAVE GRAND MAL SIEZURES EVERY 3-4 WEEKS, I FALL DOWN STEPS ,DROP HOT COFFEE ON MYSELF, ALONG WITH OTHER DANGERS. SO DONT THINK MEDS ARE THE ANSWER TO ALL SIEZURES DISEASES, SO UNLESS YOU WERE THERE AND KNOW THE CHILDS MEDICAL HISTORY, YOU CAN NOT MAKE AN INTELLIGENT CONCLUSION.....ALSO THE SIDE EFFECTS FROM MY MEDS ARE TERRIBLE,,HEADACHES,BLURRED VISION,NUMBNESS IN FINGER /TOES. NAUSEA AND VOMITING

We don't know that Jett wasn't taking medicatiojn for his seizures - from all accounts he was. Scientology isn't against all medication, but it IS against mind altering drugs, like those for ADHD etc. My nephew has seizures, even though he is on seizure medication - sometimes they still happen, and Jett had a medical condition too like my nephew, which means he probably didn't tell people when he felt bad or felt something was wrong. So please people, since you have NO KNOWLEDGE of what went on in the Travolta household, you cannot possibly know if Jett was taking meds or not - and even if he wasn't, there are a lot of people who avoid these meds too because of the side effects, even though they know there is a risk to them. I can only imagine how bad John and Kelly and Ella feel - they lost Jett and they can never get him back. Have a little compassion people, what if this was you and you were on trial as well as the extortionists? We live in a sad and horrible world. God bless Jett, and God send some comfort the Travolta's way by helping the jury find these people guilty of their horrible, sick crime.

Scientology is a stupid religion. They are to blame.

Because the church of Scientology doesn't recognize autism is why he didn't get meds. We all can see the deep suffering going on in John. He has to deal with the fact that he followed the Church's beliefs. I worry that he may take his own life. For those of you that just dissed him, you have no idea what he is going through. Leave him alone and let Jett r.i.p.

Yes, the anti seizure meds can cause side effects just as unpleasant as the seizure itself, but Mr. Travolta will never know. His Scientology beliefs wouldn't let him try to help his son with the tools that God allowed mankind to develop.
I hope the blackmailers are convicted and rot in jail for the maximum allowable terms and when their terms are up the prison system loses the records for a few more years.
