According to a TMZ source, there has been "a verbal order that she [Birkitt] is 'banned' from the property for the time being."
Worldwide Pants, the production company behind Letterman's 'Late Show,' insists that Birkitt "has not been banned," and that she's just "on paid leave of absence."
Birkitt is the woman at the center of the Letterman affair controversy. She had been Dave's assistant for years, and sometimes wound up in televised 'Late Show' skits.

Have sexual harassment laws died? It would seem to me that between Letterman, Halderman, Birkitt and CBS, she is the victim. She could be the instigator since she was running around on Halderman, but if Letterman did not commit a crime, then she did not commit a crime. So, for CBS to allow retailiation against her seems to be in violation of all sorts of laws about sexual harassment in the workplace, if they let Letterman stay. But perhaps, all of this is the new Dave Letterman Reality Show and is not real.

What is she a victim of? He paid for her to get her Graduate Degree and gave her a cushy job.
I think that Letterman's girlfriend (now wife) that he was living with, is the victim. Letterman, obviously, had a "casting couch" in his office.
No one has even suggested that she or any of the women had sex with him against their will. They were consensual sexual relationships. I don't think Mr. Haldeman would have tried to blackmail Letterman if Ms. Birkitt had not just broken up with him and moved out. If Letterman had sex with anyone else he wouldn't have cared. Haldeman is a scary, controlling freak and she is better off without him.
In order to have retaliation, you have to have a complaint of sexual harassment in the first place. If she was a willing participant - not forced by threats of firing or whatever - she would have a hard time proving sexual harassment in the first place. But there has to be a complaint before there can be retaliation.
She is part of an extortion plot against David. I think they stated it as a paid temporaty leave due to not knowing yet how involved she is in the extortion plot. She's lucky to be paid.
None of this is sexual harassment. Their affair or whatever they want to call it was over already. Then the extortion plot came in.
The sex that happened was consensual and there is nothing in their contract against that.
Where have you been? Since the day of Eve, it has always been the woman's fault and the man was the "poor" victim! Whatever.
where is the retaliation?
Bob obviously needs the sexual harassment law explained to him. It doesn't appy to consenting adults no matter what their job status may be. If it is harassment it is up to the person being harassed to file the charges.
Havent you heard? It is ALWAYS the woman's fault...
I don't think either of them were forced to do anything. I think two single people were having consentual fun. That's not breaking any laws, and that's not adultry.
I think Dave waited to marry Regina until he could keep his marriage vows and be dedicated and committed to her.
It does seem odd that CBS would be the one driving this ban. Maybe the lovely Mrs. Letterman is behind it. Heck, if I'd invested 23 years in dating this philanderer only to find out he was getting his p***y and his paycheck at the same place I'd go to work with him every day until the divorce settlement was final!

Bob, you mean like the Truman show?? Lord help us!

Where are the feminists, NOW and the EEOC? Isn't this a case of someone in a superior position(sic) taking advantage of a subordinate or someone in a lesser role for personal reasons? Kind of reminds you of Clinton, Monica, etc., doesn't it? Oh I forgot. Since it is a celebrity with liberal leanings it is excused or ignored. If this had been a conservative, there would have been demands for his ouster along with the usual picketing, boycotts and blathering from the left. Sorry, but it's true/

I think you're right, although this woman apparently 'consented' that is until they decide not to consent anymore, or decide they are now victims, or whatever. HOWEVER, Monica Lewinsky was never a victim. Stupid to believe a married presidential affair would last? Hell yes. However, as she so aptly put it to someone else she had an affair with (and then blackmailed); "I'm going to Washington to use my Knee-pads" or something to that affect. She knew what she was doing, as would any woman attempting to have an affair with the married President of the United States: and she did it for power, a name, and a place in history. She already had plans to blow someone before she even got to Washingtom. She probably never imagined it would be the President of the United States, but what the heck! I feel sorry for her, but she brought it on herself. Anyone who falls for "Slick Willy's" lines (and hell I even really liked that President) needs to wake up and smell the coffee, AND grow the *** up. Then AND NOW.
Most people meet other people at work that they end up having some kind of relationship. Whether one person holds more power sometimes is just the way it is. It's not like they are lording it over the other. It's usually a case of attraction. Sexual harassment is usually quick because the victim gets out. This seems like the usual situation where one person is involved but not completely involved with another person and both being torn about what to do about their attraction. DL has known his wife for 20 years. He met her on the show. Stephanie has worked on the show since around 2000. It seems they broke up when Regina got pregnant but kept reuniting. Dave's own boss, Les Moonves, married a subordinate at CBS. Bill Gates ended up with someone from Microsoft. It happens everywhere, with some people at a company. Who knows exactly what Haldeman saw when he saw them in a car last fall. Also what is with this chick that she leaves her diary around - very careless. It's all very unfortunate. But you can't threaten or extort someone just because you're jealous or angry.
Spoken like a true conservative. What makes you think he made the first move. Maybe the “subordinate” (Stephanie, or Monica) was trying to work her way up the ladder so to speak, by luring someone in a “superior position(sic)” using what they thought was their best asset. Or who knows, here's a novel idea. Could it be possible they were just attracted to each other and decided to act on it? You think since we really don’t know, maybe we shouldn’t assume the worst?
First of all, NOW spoke out yesterday about this, and the EEOC has no business getting involved unless they receive a specific complaint. And alas, it's continually proven on here that "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing"...Indeed!

What I would like to know is if Haldemann is so strapped for cahs where did he get the money for His bail. Also can he afford such a highprofile attorney. The same one who got Gotti off from going to jail. Must be a right wing conspiracy maybe started by Sarah palin.

First of all, I don't see any employees complaining. At least they have not been on the news at all. Second, has anyone wondered why this is all out in the open anyway??? Why do we even need to know about all of this? I think Letterman is doing a "John and Kate Plus 8" and trying to get a ratings hike. Working isn't it!!! Also how about the concept that Halderman agreed to sell the screenplay he wrote about the show 'behind the scenes' to Letterman instead of developing it...not exactly illegal...and Letterman decided to turn the whole thing into something else in retaliation??? Think about it!!
