Jones, Paulson Have 'Happiest Break Up'

One of Hollywood's most prominent same-sex relationships is over, as actresses Cherry Jones and Sarah Paulson have called it quits, but unlike many celebrity splits, this one's quite cordial. "We're not together anymore, but we're still dearest of friends," Jones told UsMagazine.com.

The two actresses have gone their separate ways after years of dating. Jones says that the two "grew so much together and now we can send each other off with a kiss and great love."

"It's the happiest break up that's ever been," Jones continued about the split. "We grew so much together and now we can send each other off with a kiss and great love."

The split was rumored for some time, as the 52-year-old Jones mysteriously left Paulson out of her Emmys acceptance speech this year. Jones, who played the President on '24,' took home award for outstanding dramatic supporting actress.

Jones discussed the Paulson omission with Us, telling them that "Sarah understood, and we talked about it. And I know enough to know that if I had said her name, the rest of the night that's all anybody from the press would have asked me about. I just wanted to keep it focused on my family. That's the back-story."

As for being officially single for the first time in 29 years, Jones says she's "happy as a bluebird," and that she "may never be in another relationship as long as I live."

"I love deepening my friendships, and I like being on my own," Jones says of her newfound status.

Hopefully, Sarah Paulson will now be into men. With the way she looks and carries herself, it's a crime if she's not. Cherry Jones on the other hand, should stay with women cause she looks like the typical lesbian.

By equality is democratic

I cannot understand all of the hate on these boards. If you don't know who these women are, then why comment? Both have received nominations for their work (and Cherry has won both an Emmy and a Tony). It may not be newsworthy to you, but I distinctly searched for news on this because I wanted to know if it was true. I respect these two actresses for their work and appreciated that they were brave enough to be a same-sex couple despite the hate-mongering that is so apparent (as illustrated in comment sections like this). They are not pushing their agenda. They are living their lives, and the statement was made because the press probably asked.

I truly cannot understand all of the hate in this country. It clearly stems from fear, but it saddens me to see such attitudes, and to declare them in such cruel ways. I'm sure not every commenter on this thread looks like an A-List actor or actress. Making such base comments behind the security of anonymity is oh so brave.
