Soulja Boy Arrested After Running Away

Soulja Boy was arrested outside Atlanta on Wednesday night after he ran away from police officers when they showed up at a house he was using for a video shoot. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that the 'Crank That' rapper took off running from the house and was arrested after he returned moments later.

Police were called to the scene around 9 p.m. following complaints that a group of people were hanging out at the possibly abandoned house. When officers approached the group, everyone scattered.

Capt. Jason Bolton summed it up: "He just ran from the police, and then he decided to come back" for his car, a white Range Rover.

TMZ reports that Soulja -- real name Deandre Cortez Way -- was charged with obstruction, a misdemeanor, and released.

That is the most awesome name- soulja boy. It is just so brilliant the way he took the proper way of saying soldier, and changed it to soulja. So creative. He should get a nobel prize as well.

granted I have an apathy for Obama, but it's a fad or style, no different than rock groups using unusual spellings or descriptive names.

Why is race always dragged up in these comments section? Well, I do not understand why in the world he would run away, but also do not understand why he would be charged with anything if he did nothing illegal. I was not aware that it is illegal to run from police when you have not done anything wrong. I think police are on a power trip sometimes. Get pissed if you don't kiss their badge. I was a prosecutor and worked closely with my chief of police in our little town--this would have been taken care of with a little kindly lecture, not any charges. I am white and do not understand why those who comment have to make this a racial issue.

I don't give a crap about hip hop. I don't really care about Soulja Boy either. The issue is ppl constantly having to bring up race with anything that any black person does. This is ridiculous. Soulja Boy was raised like every other black in America. We are raised in ignorance. Hung up on our own "culture" made up of violence and a continuous cycle of keeping ourselves oppressed. I am black. I am also a Phd in Human Genetics. My parents did not let me get involved in the normal black "culture" of our day. They taught me to speak right, dress normal and make something more of myself. Most blacks are so hung up on being black that they are the actual racists and in doing so they oppress themselves. Let's make more of ourselves.

You seemed to unknowingly placed yourself in two different scenarios of how you were raised. You generalized how all blacks are raised, and you stated you are black. That would lead one to believe that all blacks are not raised in the same way. Ultimately that goes to show that having a Phd in Human Genetics means you may know a lot about Human Genetics but not necessarily about anything else.

IF you have NOTHING too hide, you have NO reason to run away! When you see ALL these thugs running from the police, they "might" be Innocent of what the police want too question them about, but their holding drugs/guns or have outstanding warrants. so they run, its as simple as that! Even on the reality cop shows were the camera in on the cops and they're on their best behavior, the Ghetto Rats still run, because they're guilty of SOMETHING and THAT'S why they're arrested.
