Would you buy shoes from Dina Lohan? You are getting the chance next Spring when Long Island's most famous stage mommy launches her own shoe line with the company "I Love My Shoes." Contrary to popular belief the line has not been officially called Shoe-han (mini sigh of relief). "The line is not called 'Shoe-Han!'" Dina herself insisted to AOL StyleList's Marissa Gold. That was just a clever marketing ploy crafted by the brand's publicist (because who doesn't love a good Lohan pun). The big draw of the elder Lohan's line is that all the shoes will be priced under $100. But is the moderate price point combined with the peripheral celebrity of Dina enough to attract a formidable shoe following?
Our fashion experts weigh in after the jump.
Celebrity fashion lines come and go like reality television marriages. Jennifer Lopez's six-year-old Sweetface line shutdown this summer and Nicky Hilton, Mandy Moore and Amanda Bynes are just a few of the other celebs whose clothing dreams have gone onto that great runway in the sky.
"Just like every regular person secretly thinks they could probably write excellent greeting card copy, celebrities seem to think that the world is waiting for them to design shoes and handbags. But with fashion lines by the likes of superstars Jennifer Lopez and Sarah Jessica Parker having died in recent years, the odds are against a dilettante brand like Dina Lohan's," says AOL StyleList editor Ben Widdicombe.
"Part of Dina's charm is that she does truly believe she's sleek and chic, and that women (even tweens) will respond to her personal style. But I suspect what will resonate with her likely customer the most is if she designs a shoe with a place to stash your cigarettes."
The price points for the shoes are low, but in this economy it isn't hard to find a stellar pair for under $100 or even under $50.
"Dina's confidence in her line seems to lie in the price point- with all shoes being priced under $100. But with a polarizing name like hers stamped on the insole, and her lack of design background- not to mention the fact that for many women in America $99 on a pair of shoes is still considered a splurge- it is going to be an uphill battle. So all I can say is that if she is prepared to climb it, those better be some damn comfy and well-made shoes she is strutting in" says style guru Jenn Falik.
And then there is the loose connection between Dina and shoes. We know that she wears shoes and her daughters wear shoes. In fact they are apparently all the same size. "Eight and a half or nine," Dina told StyleList. But other than that Dina isn't known for her famous footwear.
"Star power alone won't sell shoes. Plus I don't think Dina is known as a shoe person. It's not like she is doing a tanning lotion or a woman's line for women 50 and older," says stylist Mary Alice Stephenson. "Those are things women would buy from her."
"It is such an odd thing for her to be doing. I think the impetus to do something like create a collection is usually the byproduct of the attention you've gotten for the attention related to a type of product so I think it is kind of a weird match because she hasn't been recognized in any way for any contribution to style," says style expert Robert Verdi, who can be seen in February in 'The Robert Verdi Show Starring Robert Verdi,' on the Logo network.

Instead of having other people design and make shoes for her and taking all the credit, why is this mother not using her idle time to get help for her drug and alcohol addicted daughter(s)? I guess staying in the headlines is more important to her than family.
Linzey was just a major flop in a french fashion effort, so it's probably fair to assume that there is no fashion gene in this family. Linzey sucks and so does Dina. I wish they'd give up already. They are getting annoying.
Okay so you might not like her, but what if her line is totally fab?? You would miss out on a great line just because you have an attitude! Wow, that's cool of you.
