Unless the ladies were coerced into having sex with DL who the f(*&^ cares? How many of them may have actually seduced him into the act? Some people have nothing better to do that tell others how to live their lives to their moral standards. The media will exploit this to the fullest for thier own greed.
Want to know what's wrong with our society? Here's the answer - at least 71% of us have lost our moral compass; we either don't know what's right and what's wrong or we don't care. How should we define right from wrong? Forget Christian right or Liberal left, it's about our children; it's about the things that help our children become good people and good citizens. Is what David Letterman did a good example for our children? You all be the judge...
Ken, I find your supposition offensive. I simply do not want to live in a world geared to 10 year olds if that bothers you keep your kids at home like they did in the nineteenth century.
Ken, what kind of parent are you, letting your kids stay up to watch Dave in the first place? I was not allowed to watch TV during the school week and limited to 2 hrs on weekends. I learned about infidelity the old fashion way, from my father--whose name also happened to be Ken--so get on the stick, there Ken. You're falling down in your parential duties.
I don"t think it is an issue that the media should constantly be bringing up. That is the problem with morals today. Years ago morals were different and this was not a topic that was constantly brought up. Until the morals of the media change we will constantly have things like this thrown at our children.
I think it is awful that a young woman can not get a job with David Letterman and not know she was taken seriously. All she is viewed as is a "good time" and "a pretty little thing." Women have the right to work and not be propositioned. And the public should be ashamed for thinking, she instigated it. David is an older man who should have acted like a gentleman and he certainly should have been a better mentor to the women.
Iching regarding your response... I'm afraid you don't get it - it's not about you! Your self-centered perspective is exactly what is wrong with our society, i.e. the "me" generation of non-producers. Consuming is your business and everybody needs to move over and get our of your way because you're "entitled". Well, I think nature is about to put things back in balance. Let's see what you think a year or so from now about it being only what you want. It's offensive to me that you think our children are not important - they are what drive our society to improve. They are the reason a society continues to exist!
I don't see how the mistakes David Letterman has made in his personal life have anything to do with his show...and furthermore he is not the only person on this planet to screw up, give the guy a break, unless youre his wife its not really any concern of yours now is it?
Ken...I have been watching David Letterman since the 6th grade, and Im sure contrary to your opinion I turned out just fine. I make my living helping people as a labor and delivery nurse in a busy county hospital and I am a respectable member of our society. I would also allow my children to watch his show if they choose because a sense of humor never hurt anyone and this mans personal life has nothing to do with his television show. Besides the fact that he admitted he had done something wrong (and did in fact state on his show what he had done was wrong) was in my opinion something that took moral character.
Oh Pahlease. What kind of moral character is it to have slept with several EMPLOYEES while in a supposedly commited relationship? All the while putting people down for the same-knowing it's wrong and doing the same thing. Of course he apologized on the air. That's all this society does anymore--do what I feel like-when found out apologize and all is well.
I'd bet a week's pay that the "apology" wasn't his idea. CBS was having him do some damage control. This is one of the most insincere, self-centered people on television, and that's saying a bunch with what we see on the tube the past few years.
Ken, They can't hear you over the soundtrack in their heads, the one that goes me-me-me-me-I-I-me-me-I. Your absolutely right. You don't cheat on your spouse, and you don't use your position to dip your pen in the company ink. Letterman is a hypocrite,he nightly puplicly trashed everyone else for their poor conduct, while all the while doing the same. Giving him a pass is a bad example for young people. People in a place of power, privledge and celebrity should appreciate the gift they have been given and behave themselves.
Personally I am sick of the media coverage of this- Seems like a lot of these things are created for exposure more than anything- Especially Letterman-(Palin thing and this thing) Hollywood has set no limits- for becoming famous- I watch the news every night and wonder who the nuts are that are just trying to be famous- Unfortuantely bad behavior has no consequence anymore-
Letterman is your typical left. He ridiculed people for doing the same thing he was doing himself. People hang on his word, and the words of his peers like that a$$hole Bill Maher. I'm glad that he has been found out to be a hypocrite. The right isn't exempt either...remember Rush and his painkillers? I'm glad that he was found to be a hypocrite as well. People living in glass houses....
Letterman never ridiculed anyone, he's a comedian who comments on today's society same as John Stewart, Leno, or Conan. Letterman has never been malicious, or vicious in his monolouges he has simply tried to be funny. And now its Letterman who is the brunt of the jokes, and yet he hasn't complained, whined. nor hidden, he has been open and honest about the situation.
Letterman had affairs. Was he committed at the time? I think his handling it the way he did was brave. I think the coward here is the guy who was trying to blackmail Letterman. Letterman knew that if he came out with this himself it would foil this guys plan, that was a brave move considering all he had to lose but he has braved other difficult situtations like the plot to kidnap his son. Letterman draws the line in the sand and regardless of the conquences says "It stops here, I will not be extorted". I would hope the woman/women involved will be honorable as this whole thing progresses. They could jump on the $$$$ bandwagon and capitalize on it to make their own money in their 15 minutes of fame.

Why the blame on Letterman. She's not dumb, she knew exactly what she was doing. She whored herself onto his show. Why blame Letterman?

You are 100% correct. Dogs have more morals than some people.

How can you idiots think of punishing the VICTIM? The girlfriend should maybe be punished because she very well could have been involved.
