Never one to mince words, Star Jones is coming out against those who are lending support to jailed director Roman Polanski, saying that if a black director admitted to having sex with a minor, he or she wouldn't have been allowed to camp out in France for 30+ years. Never one to mince words, Star Jones is coming out against those who are lending support to jailed director Roman Polanski, saying that if a black director admitted to having sex with a minor, he or she wouldn't have been allowed to camp out in France for 30+ years. "He's white, he's rich ... I didn't stutter. I think it's a class and a privilege thing," Jones said during a discussion on 'The Insider.'During an appearance on 'The Insider,' Jones let loose on Polanski, who was recently arrested after fleeing America to dodge charges he admitted to more than 30 years ago. Jones took little time to get right into her thoughts, saying that she has "no sympathy for him. He's in jail, three hots and a cot, that's what you're supposed to get."
And she was just getting started.
Jones went on to say: "Something tells me Spike Lee would not have been allowed to chill in France for the last three decades had he admitted to having sex with a 13-year-old." She continued, questioning why Polanski, despite his admission of the crime, has the support of many in Hollywood.
"The point is, Roman Polanski is very much loved by the Hollywood industry, community, and they are out there putting petitions together."
When questioned by a fellow panel member as to whether she thinks it's just race involved, Jones clarified her stance by saying: "Not just because he's white, because he's white, he's rich ... I didn't stutter. I think it's a class and a privilege thing."
Polanski is currently in a Swiss jail as he awaits possible extradition to the U.S.

I am a BLACK MAN and I don't think Polanski has anything to do with BLACK or WHITE. Now am I NOT saying RACIST doesn't exist. But we BLACK people have to STOP blaming EVERYTHING on RACE. This is 2009. And America has a BLACK President. Not EVERYTHING is because we are BLACK! Stop it already! And you know, RACIST also exist for ALL other ETHNIC groups and races. Not just BLACK people. YES, I said it. And I am BLACK!

I agree that Polanski got special treatment that he should not have received during these decades in France. I don't think that race was the reason. It is because Polanski is seen as avante-garde and intellectual. that, in French and others' eyes, makes him "elite" and privileged to pursue behavior that is forbidden to others.

Um, what about R. Kelly? Isn't he black? And didn't he have sex with an underage girl? And isn't he still walking around free as a bird?

Star Jones just likes to make a big stink about white celebrities who commit a crime and says they should be severely punished. But as for black celebrities who commit a crime, let them off scott free. We can't punish them! Oh no! That would be a sin against all minkind. I wish someone would come up with a time machine so we can send her back in time to when blacks were slaves and spit on just for saying "Hello." Maybe THEN she might wake up and see people for who they REALLY ARE now-a-days and stop sh-p-ittin on whites!

give me a brake---yes he is different than his black counterparts since he doesnt smoke crack--period--play your race card in court like oj did---killed two white people and got away with it--now inhale and hold

the true racist here is Star Jones.

i don't belove him, i hate his movies, and despise everything about him. No one is above the law. And by the way star jones, I am white and privileged, and i hope he rots in jail. Its not about white and rich, it's about the liberalism side of hollywood, the sense of entitlement and self grandiose that these few have. Most white people i talk to think he should rot. Speaking of race Miss Jones, how come most black people think OJ didnt do it.
Reply
Star Jones, you're a moron. Not everyone in Hollywood is behind Polanski, and he's not receiving any special treatment due to the fact that he is white. You, Star, are the problem in this country because you, Star make EVERYTHING about race and it's not!!!!!!!

What about R. Kelly? Didn't he rape a child - and film it?
I'm white, and I think Polanski is a pig who should rot in jail.
Tired of hearing ABOUT ALL THE EVIL WHITE PEOPLE AND ALL THE PERFECT, KIND, BENEVOLENT BLACK PEOPLE.
These days, people get Nobel Peace Prizes just for being black.

i SOMEWHAT agree with star..if tyler perry was in the same position i think the outcome would've been alot different(sorry people but its the truth)...but i also think that wrong is wrong there's no discrimanation when it comes to being in the wrong and polanski IS wrong,AND should face prosecution and i think he status shouldn't mean anything(even tho it does)..michael jackson WAS NOT charged with any wrong doing and i think he is irrelevant to this issue...HOWEVER R.Kelly is,(and i am a BLACK woman) who did not and still doesn't support him,and many people IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY DIDN'T AND STILL DON'T SUPPORT R.KELLY..so that issue has nothing to do with him being BLACK wrong is wrong, and i don't support people who take advantage of children-BLACK,WHITE,GREEN,YELLOW,ETC.

Race doesn't have anything to do with it. Any Hollywood type is going to get the absolute and undying support of all the other Hollywood types. Only in rare instances - such as Elie Kazan - do the film folks split on an issue. If it's one of theirs they're behind it.

ummm i think PRESIDENT OBAMA(i believe thats who u r referring to INDIRECTLY,come on boo just say his name, HE IS YOUR PRESIDENT FOR THE NEXT 4yrs,get used to it)didnt recieve the noble prize"just for being black" cuz if that was the case i'd have one too along w/ every other black person in this world! so do u think MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. recieved the noble peace prize for being black 2? c'mon sweetie u sound uneduacted as well as ignorant...use ya time wisely, instead of posting ya dumbass ignorant comments on here maybe u should do ya research on BLACK HISTORY and then get back...good idea?? bye girl!

Martin Luther King, jr. was one of the most amazing people this country has ever seen. Barack Obama has done nothing but make speeches and spend ridiculous amounts of money on failed ventures (or did you miss the car bailouts). Are you comparing King to Obama? Do you seriously believe that Barack Obama has achieved anyhing even remotely close to that which King did? If a white man did what Obama has done so far, would you believe he was worthy of the Nobel Peace Pize? Be honest. You would not.
Why can't people see the crimes for what they are, instead of the color of the skin of the person that committed them?
Black Community: Since you were given equal rights, as you deserve, I've seen nothing to support your growth or movement toward the future. All I've seen is evidence to support the loud roar that rages across the country claiming your still being discriminated against. The country has changed. We have a black President. What else do you need to see that everyone has moved on but you?
I agree with previous statements. Why is it that it's ok to defend and support OJ? Why Michael Jackson? Why isn't it ok to support a celebrity that happens to be white. Celebrities are celebrities, no matter the skin color. Hollywood gets away with murder everyday. Why can't people complain about that instead of making it a race issue? Star Jones is the worst kind of racist... one with media access. If the situation were reversed Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would have already had that person packing their belongings in a box.
Why is racism so one sided???

acutally i do think PRESIDENT OBAMA(i notice ur having a hard time saying PRESIDENT)deserved the noble peace prize...he HAS united this country not just race wise but age wise in a way many have never seen b4..he's cleaning up the mess BUSH has caused...do u watch the news WE ARE JUST ABOUT OUT OF THIS RECESSION? its a shame OUR PRESIDENT has been in office almost a year and your having a hard time giving credit when it's due..and YES i do think PRESIDENT OBAMA IS COMPARABLE to MLK,and this isn't about PRESDIENT OBAMA its about this pedofile POLANSKI 2 different subject sweetie so lets stick 2 one...
It shouldn't be a matter of race! Stop looking at the color of each other's skin, we all bleed "Red". Wrong is wrong, no matter who did it, said it or however it occurs and who it may hurt! We are ALL human beings, we're going to make mistakes in life and some mistakes are costly. Pointing fingers have never helped or solved anything!

Did any of you hear the Entire Story about Roman Polanski's trial? It was all a big-media grabber for the judge in the case. He botched the trial so badly that Polanski would never be found guilty and a mistrial would be called.
The reason Polanski ran is because his attorney's told him to.
