Wyclef Strips Down for Push-Up Contest
Wyclef Jean drove concertgoers at MTV Africa Music Awards insane when he stripped down to his underwear challenge fellow underwear-attired rapper
Akon to a push-up contest on stage.
But crazed fans did not know that Wyclef spent much of his free-time seemingly prepping for the event, a favorite pastime for the singer/activist/friend of Brangelina.
Jean stayed with the rest of the MTV show participants at the luxury Tribe hotel in downtown Nairobi and spent time either recording in a make-shift studio he set up in his penthouse suite or challenging people -- anyone -- to a push-up contest.
"He wanted to take on everyone," our spy tells Popeater. "Not just asking, but really egging people on. "
In the hotel's five-story atrium lobby, Jean went up to the biggest member of hotel security and insisted on a push-up bout. "He kept pushing it, telling him to come on and make this count," says our source. Finally the guard agreed and the duo went for 25 push-ups apiece.
Jean then went up to the gnarliest security guard around who was protecting the Nigerian rapper D'banj. "This guy was totally ripped with this skintight t-shirt, he was born to intimidate."
As a group gathered around and Jean continued to pester, the guard finally dropped to the ground...but then backed off. "The bodyguard bailed out, saying he couldn't do the contest while on duty," says the source. "The whole place erupted."
Looks like Wyclef has a little energy left for his next tour stop.
