Daisy 'Would Want' Jessica Simpson to Get Another Dog

It's been exactly a month since Jessica Simpson's prized pooch, Daisy, was snatched from her backyard by a coyote. In time, her grief will subside, but for now the 29-year-old singer is heartbroken but believes her dog would want her to move on.

"Daisy meant the world to me," she told Usmagazine.com at a QVC event in NYC Tuesday. "I hold her memory very, very close. It was an unfortunate thing what happened. That I don't have her every day ... It's a very hard thing to talk about."

The 5-year-old Malti-Poo went missing on Sept. 14 in Los Angeles. That night, she created a missing dog poster that read "I Miss My Mommy ... Daisy" all over her neighborhood. After a frantic weeks-long search, Simpson gave up.

Simpson has mixed feelings on whether she'll buy another dog, but she's sure how Daisy would feel about it. "I haven't really thought about another dog yet, but maybe sometime. [Daisy] would want that."

When to replace a lost pet has long been a tough decision. Chrissy Persico, editorial director of PawNation.com, says grieving owners like Simpson will just know when it's time to find a new friend.

"The decision to replace a lost pet is a personal one, and there's no single rule for how long one should wait before bringing a new pet into their life," says Persico. "Many owners who have lost a pet say they just woke up one day -- whether it was weeks or years later -- and knew they were ready to move on."

I hope Jessica chooses to get a lovable rescue dog. So many people have had to give up their pets in SoCal and they come from loving homes.

Coyotes are dogs too!What about the poor hungry Coyotes?Poor thing was probably half starved.Roadrunners are just too smart and fast,toy dogs are neither.So it's a dog eat dog world out there.Same with those chickens of the sea,the sharks eat most of them!

To all you idiots making heartless comments about this dog being taken away by a coyote, you obviously are not animal lovers and couldn't comprehend that type of bond. Her mother let the dog out in their own backyard and a coyote ran up and snatched Daisy in its mouth then ran off into the woods. She didn't just let the dog wander around without watching it, she was in her own backyard! It's heartbreaking to think what happened to her but coyotes are now a threat and come right up to your back door..very, very sad story. I truly hope Daisy didn't feel anything and it was over fast..poor, sweet faced little dog..if anything like that happened to my dog I would be inconsolable too, I probably would've ran after the coyote..but I wouldn't expect someone my mom's age to do that.

As for all the rude, stupid comments, I just think it goes to show the mentality of some people nowadays, that's also very sad. YOu think it's funny and cute to make fun of a dog that was killed by a coyote and the sadness Jessica Simpson must feel knowing what must have happened to her "child"? You aholes will get yours someday so keep sitting behind your little computers and typing your snarky what u think is cute messages thinking you're cool and funny...bunch of cowards and idiots. I'm an animal lover and it turned my stomach to read some of these comments..typical idiots..grow the hell up.

and if Jessica is reading this just know you will get another dog someday, he or she will never replace Daisy in your heart but the way they make us laugh and bond with us makes it a little easier every day. I lost a dog too so I know how it feels.

Good for you kymberlyc89... I absolutely agree with your post. Dogs or other pets give unconditional love and I love my Yorkshire Terriers as if they were my children- they're precious to me and are a gift from God, in my eyes. Author Dean Koontz wrote an awesome story about his beloved golden retriever- Trixie- in Guidposts magazine this month. Truly heart warming and is the greatest story of the love of a pet that I have ever read.
Animals are living things with hearts for love, compassion and happiness. But they also feel fear, abandonment and pain. They are the innocents that our Creator has entrusted us with.

If you nuts remember a few years back Haley Berry lost 2 of her dogs the same way. It was when she was doing a movie for Oprah. Oprah replaced them.10 yrs ago I had 2 put down my wonderful Jack Russell. 2 this day I still miss him.
What I did after about a year, I got 2 more Jack's. Since then I have rescued 3 other dogs. One dog was so abusedit took him 4 months before my husband and son could touch him. It has been 3 yrs. and he is doing great. They will never replace Max, but it has helped me to heal. I agree Jessice should look into rescuing a dog. The ones I rescued helped me heal better than the ones I was given.
Hang in there Jessica. As the old saying goes. Time heals. It takes a while, but one day you will say I need to look into getting another dog. Mine are my children, and I would not give them up for any thing.
