NFL Ad Takes Aim at Simpson's Weight

Poor Jessica Simpson. Even cartoon characters are criticizing her body.

The singer-actress' weight is the subject of an animated commercial that aired during FOX NFL Sunday on Oct. 11.

Both FOX and sponsor Burger King have released statements apologizing for the harsh ribbing.

A rep for FOX tells Usmagazine.com, "Burger King Corp. did not have any editorial input in the creation of the animation that ran last Sunday, and no one from Burger King Corp. approved it before it aired. Upon reflection, our poor attempt at humor was insensitive and we deeply apologize to anyone who might have been offended."

Burger King adds: "Burger King Corp. has a long-standing relationship with FOX Sports, as well as an extensive media partnership with the network. The specific content for this sketch involving Jessica Simpson was not developed or aired by BKC or any of its agencies."

The "poor attempt at humor" was a cartoon of the Dallas Cowboys that showed some of the players making fun of Simpson's figure.

"Man I still can't believe Tony dated Jessica Simpson, even AFTER she blew up bigger than Flozell Adams!" the animated Marion Barber said in the sketch, in reference to his teammate and Jessica's ex Tony Romo. (Adams is an offensive tackle for Dallas.)

"Unlike Tony, at least Jessica comes up big when it counts!" Jason Whitten's cartoon added.

Then Romo comes in. 'Guys, I'm standing right here."

"Sorry Tony," coach Wade Phillips said. "Say Tony, is Jessica around? We could use a defensive tackle!"

It those guys think thats funny-how about a commercial where everyone laughs at Tony for folding like a cheap suit at the crucial time in a game-any game-pick one.
Until the Cowboys can put together a decent team that won't embarrass the town-they show lay low and practice -practice-practice.

I am not a big Jessica Simpson fan, but this commercial goes too far. I don't think that she is fat at all. There is no reason for this kind of abuse towards her. I hope that she sues whoever made this disgusting commercial.

Wow, how could have had such an easy target, and totally missed on any kind of humor, satire or wit? They must have gotten the writers for Family Guy to do this.

Jesus, I feel sorry for whatever low IQ douche considered this funny. Oh, it was made for football fans... no wonder.

Doesn't do much good for Dallas to make fun of anyone but their players and coaches because they f-ing suck. Heaven forbid a woman who doesn't want the players' money, their fame, or a baby attached to a paycheck from them. I would be questioning why the OTHER players wouldn't want a Texan blonde with huge tits....should the cowboys be renamed to Brokeback Mountain?

Neanderthals! And I am talking about Burger King, not the cartoon characters portrayed in this stupid commercial. Here is my question: did the Cowboys management sign off on this? If so, they deserve to be boycotted. If not, they have a hell of a lawsuit on their hands. Whatever. Jessica Simpson is a human being with feelings. She does not deserve to be mistreated this way. I will never go near Burger King again.

Commercial was plain mean. I dont understand how they can get away with garbage like that. Ms. Simpson looks great... looks even better without that loser Romo around. She can do much better. I cant believe Fox Sports would air such a mean spirited commercial...shame on them. As for Burger King... I wont be stopping by there anytime soon...All they serve up is MAKE YUR AZZ FAT FOOD! I am not a Jessica Simpson fan but I have to say that Fox News keeps losing credibility among the public. First they change from a news station to a right wing editorial desk and now they are taking aim at a young woman who has suffered one humiliation after another and is just trying to be who she is and do what she does. This is disgusting. Jessica Simpson is beautiful and NOT FAT! This is a good way to put the wrong idea in little girls mind of what is fat and what is not, and to lead into an eating disorder. This is horrible. Especially when she just lost her dog in a horrible accident. This is just a low blow. What a sad society we live in, to laugh and try to make ourselves feel better at someone elses expense.Keep your head up Jessica, this too shall pass! The men who wrote this Burger King commercial obviously have a pencil in their pants. Teeny Peeny men have no idea what to do with a real woman aka normal sized, so they have to make fun of women in order to feel "manly". What a shame that their inferiority complexes are used to sell products.

I am very thankful that Jessica is a woman who doesn't allow another person to validate her - this commerical could have had disasterous results - as stessed as she is right now with the break up with Tony, the killing of her dog by a coyote, and then this commerical - I don't even want to think what someone would have done to themselves who would not be as self-assured as Jessica. This commerical could have had life ending results. Both Fox Sports and BK owe Jessica Simpson a public apology as well as everyone who participated in the commerical. They all are guilty of making A$$'s of themselves and causing Jessica such humiliation.

while i am not a fan of jessica simpson, i think this is terrible. and not to mention, burger king and fox are about 6 months BEHIND on this gossip. this happened a while ago and its not like she gained 50 pounds. and if she did, so what? don't people have better things to talk about? sad.
