NFL Ad Takes Aim at Simpson's Weight

Poor Jessica Simpson. Even cartoon characters are criticizing her body.

The singer-actress' weight is the subject of an animated commercial that aired during FOX NFL Sunday on Oct. 11.

Both FOX and sponsor Burger King have released statements apologizing for the harsh ribbing.

A rep for FOX tells Usmagazine.com, "Burger King Corp. did not have any editorial input in the creation of the animation that ran last Sunday, and no one from Burger King Corp. approved it before it aired. Upon reflection, our poor attempt at humor was insensitive and we deeply apologize to anyone who might have been offended."

Burger King adds: "Burger King Corp. has a long-standing relationship with FOX Sports, as well as an extensive media partnership with the network. The specific content for this sketch involving Jessica Simpson was not developed or aired by BKC or any of its agencies."

The "poor attempt at humor" was a cartoon of the Dallas Cowboys that showed some of the players making fun of Simpson's figure.

"Man I still can't believe Tony dated Jessica Simpson, even AFTER she blew up bigger than Flozell Adams!" the animated Marion Barber said in the sketch, in reference to his teammate and Jessica's ex Tony Romo. (Adams is an offensive tackle for Dallas.)

"Unlike Tony, at least Jessica comes up big when it counts!" Jason Whitten's cartoon added.

Then Romo comes in. 'Guys, I'm standing right here."

"Sorry Tony," coach Wade Phillips said. "Say Tony, is Jessica around? We could use a defensive tackle!"

My dad was a republican right wing idiot all his life. So I have experience with these arse hole cutting everyone else down just to make themselves feel better. My dad paid the price by not having a single one of his 7 children even visit him during the final 10 years of his life and he was alone on his death bed. You reap the seeds that you sow.

You can be small in stature and bave a high bodyfat percentage, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. I've seen plenty of jiggly thighs on stick thin models and in the gym. No one would say that Venus -a pro athelete- is fat...

I personally know plenty of so called thin people that have all of these issues. Skinny in no way means healthy.

Skinny and anorexic is unattractive. Most countries outside of the western world...indeed most cultures not influenced by whites find adore the rounder female figure.

I still say from my experiences and my friends there is an extreme pressure placed on white women to be stick thin....regardless of what extreme measures-surgery, anorexia, etc- and the numbers bear witness.

Healthy is attractive and it isn't necessarily dictated by your dress size.

That is rich, the NFL making fun of someone's weight... I believe they should take a long look at the line men of their own league and make fun of them... Especially the offensive linemen... How in the world are they passing physicals to play??? The NFL also has the nerve to tell kids to go out an play for 60 minutes a day... While this is a wonderful idea, can we make sure they get all of their players in "shape"... Most of the interior linemen on both sides of the ball are obese!!!! Most look ridiculous in their uniforms....

Jessica Simpson needs to stop with the crybaby nonsense. As a big guy, so many people, even my best friend, tease me about my weight every day, but I don't make a big deal out of it. Simpson is so arrogant and full of herself that anytime she gets criticized about anything, she demands an apology. If she's unhappy about what people say about her body, she can either ignore it, or do something about it herself, such as LOSE WEIGHT!!! She should know better than anyone else that being a celebrity doesn't free her from criticism. She needs to learn to deal with it.

Before attacking Jessica (again), could you please point out the part in which she is behaving like a "crybaby"? Better yet, how about sharing with everyone the part where Jessica commented on this matter, or hell even acknowledged this commercials existence? You, jambanaddict are even worse than the people involved with this commercial. The idea that you feel the need to bash this poor girl even further when she hasn't done ANYTHING other than simply exist speaks volumes about your own self esteem issues. Somehow, I have a feeling that your "big boy" stature puts you in a category more closely related to a bloated manatee than a 5'2 blonde pop star with a smokin hot body (even if hers does fluctuate 5 or 10lbs at times). Despite your proclamation, seems like YOU'RE making a bigger deal about your size than she is of hers, perhaps YOU should lose some weight and "deal with it".

I find it interesting that the cartoon of the coach is a chunk of a man who cant stop laughing about whats being said about a curvy woman. The commercial is disgusting, hopefully they didn't use the voices of the real players...but BK did have to get some kind of permission to use likenesses. Adds fuel to my Cowboys Suck!!! fire. GO STEELERS!!!

We spent the LONGEST 13 months of our lives in Texas! The nicest people we met were from someplace else. (oh, sorry, we DID spend several weeks in San Angelo and THOSE folks were fantastic)

We found it "amusing" that at the rest area at the state line, the Texas flag was being flown higher than the US flag (a no-no), AND they didn't call it their state flag, it's the "national flag of Texas". And before any Texans excoriate me, let me add, we SAW the flag being flown higher on a higher pole, AND were told by many 'native' Texans that it was NOT their state flag, but their "national" flag. So please, do NOT be surprised by anything that comes out of there!

Did i miss the part where they were selling burgers?...and I refuse to believe no one at Burger King was aware of the content of this commercial before it aired. What corporation would be so foolish as to have someone create a commercial for them and not even bother to see the end result knowing that their name is on it.
