Garth Brooks Unveils Map-Free Route Out of Retirement
Garth Brooks has an interesting take on retirement. The country superstar, who hung up his ten-gallon in 2000, says he's back in the game ... but with no immediate plans. Brooks, 47, made his announcement Thursday during a press conference in Nashville. "We're going to take the retirement roof off over our head, and I already feel taller," he said.
"I know this is a young industry," he told the gathered press, "so I'm not sure I'll be welcomed back but, if the fans want me, I still want to pursue my music."
Asked if he's going out on tour, he explained "if I can't eat it, sleep it, breathe it, then it ain't me."
The 'Thunder Rolls' star said he'd like to raise his children before hitting the pavement again. With his ex-wife, Sandy Mahl, Brooks has three daughters ranging in age from 13 to 17.
Does this mean there won't be a Garth tour until 2014, when his youngest turns 18? Brooks has no kids with second wife
Trisha Yearwood, 45.
It has been rumored that he is preparing a sixteen-week run in Las Vegas.
The Recording Industry Association of America honored Brooks in 2007 with a career award after he passed Elvis Presley to become the top-selling solo artist in U.S. history. At the time, he had sold more than 123 million albums.

Country Music isn't what Country Music used to be. There is more of a Pop influence. Artists like George Strait, and Alan Jackson still stay fairly traditional. Garth had quite a few hits as well, but some of his music is also somewhat pop. Today's artists are just not the same. I would welcome Garth Brooks back, and I hope that when he does come out of retirement it will be for awhile. I have to respect the guy for wanting to spend time raising his kids.

I knew it would happen! "Kids" will drive us (parents) crazy, so I understand why he wanted to go back to work! We love them to extreme, but we need a little adult time also.
Good luck to them. Take them on the road with you this summer, and show them this glorious country!
