Melissa Rycroft of 'Bachelor' Fame Has the Swine Flu

Melissa Rycroft, who parlayed an epic rejection on 'The Bachelor' to a successful run on 'Dancing With the Stars' earlier this year, has announced she has a case of the swine flu.

"I am indeed recovering from a bout of the H1N1 flu virus," Rycrof, 26, tells Usmagazine.com. "Like most people who become infected, I thought I had a mild case of the common flu, but when my symptoms exacerbated, I immediately went to the hospital where I was diagnosed with H1N1 and given the proper medications to cure the infection."

The former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader wants people to know "how easy it is to battle this flu when you take the proper steps such as seeking the care of a doctor."

Rycroft appeared on season 13 of 'The Bachelor' and was proposed to by the show's star, Jason Mesnick. But on a wrap-up episode, Mesnick rescinded the proposal and instead chose the runner-up, Molly Malaney.

In May, Rycroft finished third on 'Dancing With the Stars.'

Swine flu causes your teeth to be jacked up like that?

My 42 year old sister has been in the ICU for the past two weeks with a combination of double pneumonia, renal failure, blood infection and is currently on a ventilator to breathe for her since both lungs collapsed. Many young adults and children have died from this flu - so for all the smartass ignorant idiots out there making coments like "Who Cares" and "stop being whiny babies" etc... Let's hope you or your loved ones do not come down with it in the same way- it affects all people differently. It's not the "flu" that kills, it's the secondary infections from the flu. To all those that have been affected, God Bless your recovery. To all the ignorant idiots - Let's hope you do not meet your Maker anytime soon, because you will eventually have to answer for all you hurtful comments.
