TMI? LeAnn Rimes and Music's Top 10 Oversharers

Country crooner
LeAnn Rimes has had tongues wagging this year over her steamy affair with her married co-star
Eddie Cibrian and subsequent split from hubby Dean Shemeret. Now she is spilling her side of the story on her new album due out in the spring.
"Most of the stuff I've written [myself], so it's definitely my life," Rimes, 27, told People magazine. "Part of my therapy is to write," she says. "I write with a lot of my best friends, so most of [our meetings] are therapy sessions that turn into songs."
Longtime Nashville songwriter Patrick Davis explains, "Singers and songwriters are able to speak to their audience through their songs. I think it helps them get things off their chests." Rimes isn't the first pop star to use her personal life for musical fodder.
After the jump take a look at our list of the top ten musical over-sharers:
1. Jon Bon Jovi
Back in the 1980s,
Jon Bon Jovi had a brief affair with actress Diane Lane that ended in such heartbreak Jon Bon penned his hit 'You Give Love a Bad Name' to heal his aching heart. We would like to thank Diane for giving us one of the greatest karaoke songs of all time.
2. Ray Charles
Ray Charles' 'Hit the Road Jack' was penned by his backup singer Margie Hendrix who was inspired to write it when the married Charles tried to break off his relationship with her.
3. Joan Baez
Joan Baez believes her stormy relationship with
Bob Dylan was the inspiration for his 'Visions of Johanna,' a song about being pushed to the emotional brink but Dylan has never confirmed or denied that the song was about Joan. Baez however was so convinced it was that she wrote a musical retort back to Dylan in her 'Winds of the Old Days,' saying "ghosts of Johanna will visit you there."
4. John Mayer
John Mayer's spring release 'Heartbreak Warfare,' is about a needy lover talking about another man. It is reportedly a thinly veiled reference to his on-again, off-again relationship with Jennifer Aniston.
5. James Taylor
James Taylor's 'Fire and Rain' chronicles his personal struggle to overcome heroin addiction.
6. Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan's 2005 'Confessions of a Broken Heart' is a dramatic ballad chronicling her estrangement from her jailbird dad Michael Lohan.
7. George Michael
George Michael recounted his arrest for engaging in a lewd sex act in his single "Outside" where he explains that he wants to have al fresco sex because doing it inside is boring.
8. Jessica Simpson
Jessica Simpson's "Remember That," was inspired by being able to fall in love again after an abusive relationship. The song pre-dated Tony Romo so it seems Jess was pretty peeved with either
John Mayer or
Nick Lachey.
9. Kelly Clarkson
Kelly Clarkson wrote "Because of You" to vent about her troubled childhood. The video for the song was so personal she even asked her parents permission before releasing a final cut.
10. Stevie Nicks
Stevie Nicks wrote the song "Sara" after her affair with
Don Henley. Henley says that Nicks had become pregnant with their child and named the baby Sara. She later had an abortion and Henley claims the song was dedicated to the spirit of the unborn child.

How dare they sing about their feelings! They should all be singing fake love songs with no real meanings! LAME.

I really like oversharers as a music fan, besides the more they release online the more publicity they'll get. A person sees Music Videos on youtube and decides they want to buy the song on itunes. That's how it works nowadays. If you don't share your releases will go by unnoticed.

Great article. I did not know half of that information. I am a big fan of Kelly Clarkson's so I did know what that song means to her. I love the song, it makes me cry. It is very powerful stuff since alot of us have survived broken homes. I am a fan of Stevie Nicks and had no idea that song was about that. Wow.
