Jennifer Aniston's Love Life: Dating Experts Weigh In

Who are we to pity this gorgeous, successful, famous woman? Make no mistake, she's in on the joke. When Aniston recently accepted her Crystal Award for Excellence in Film, she used the occasion to poke fun at the parallels between her movies and life off screen, saying: "It started with 'The Good Girl,' then of course 'Rumor Has It,' followed by 'Derailed.' Then there was 'The Break-Up.' If any of you have a project entitled 'Everlasting Love With an Adult Stable Male, I'm at table 6 and my agents are at table 12!"

Good to know Aniston has a sense of humor about her love life and the media attention surrounding it. However, Jen, if you're listening, here are tips from our panel of experts on dating in the public eye and choosing the right guy.


"Date a real person, date an entrepreneur, a network exec who makes a bit of money," suggests Patti Stanger, Bravo's 'Millionaire Matchmaker.'

Stanger imagines the 40-year-old actress with someone good-looking and "not obsessed with the red carpet." He's "38 and up and maybe wants to have kids," she says. He's a fixture on Forbes' lists of the rich and richer' but he's laid-back enough to hang in Malibu with Aniston's celebrity BFFs Courteney Cox and David Arquette.

Exploring other options in Hollywood-- such as producer-types that more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it-- might be a good strategy to break away from her pattern of dating equally famous performers like ex-John Mayer, says Andrea Syrtash, a dating and relationship expert and author of the upcoming book 'He's Just Not Your Type (And That's a Good Thing).'



With a low-key guy who allows her to shine-- maybe someone from her past who knew her before she was a boldfaced name-- Aniston could find stability, balance and solace from the pressures of her professional life, Syrtash says.

"That's invaluable in a world where everyone wants a piece of you," she adds.

Patrick Meagher, who dishes relationship advice from the male perspective as a host on SIRIUS XM Cosmo Radio, thinks Aniston should expand her options to include regular dudes.

"She can't go any funnier than Vince Vaughn, [and] she can't go any better looking than Brad Pitt," he says. "She needs to go normal: Fireman Bob."


And when she eventually dumps Fireman Bob after satisfying her fix for normalcy, Meagher says that Aniston should head straight into the arms of Madonna's ex-hubby Guy Ritchie, who generally avoids the spotlight and knows a thing or two about wooing mega-famous, Yoga-toned superstars.

After going through a super-public divorce from Madonna, dating Aniston would be a "walk in the park," quips Meagher.


But does she really need Madonna's leftovers? Okay, that was harsh. Even so: Given Aniston's seemingly nonstop schedule of shooting movies, is she even looking for something serious at the moment?

"She's been working really hard on building this career, and it's very difficult to add on top of that--for any career woman--trying to build a lasting, deep, committed relationship. That takes a lot of attention too," said Jennifer Armstrong, co-founder of online womens' magazine Sirensmag.com.

While Aniston headlines tend to scream "Jilted Woman Who Wants A Baby," let's face the facts: If she wanted to get married and have babies, she could. She's Jennifer Aniston!

In the meantime, until Mr. Right comes along, "She should date whoever she wants to date," says Armstrong. "There are no real wrong decisions in dating... And relationships are tricky for everyone--even celebrities."
