Lindsay Lohan's facial features are the talk of the Web, as many are beginning to question whether the young and gorgeous actress has had surgical work done despite the fact that she's just 23 years old. Did she go under the knife, or is it maturity and/or her hard-living lifestyle that's changed her looks. After the jump, a plastic surgeon weighs in.

"Lindsay appears to have undergone a lot of changes over the past several years," says Dr. Tony Youn, a practicing Board-Certified plastic surgeon who doesn't treat Lohan tells PopEater after seeing a variety of photos of the actress over the years. "While these photos are only years apart, she appears to have aged 15 years! Her skin shows signs of premature aging, with solar damage, pigmentary blemishes, fine wrinkles, and coarseness not typically seen in a person her age. Plus, her lips appear inflated to drastic proportions, resembling the 'trout pout' of some Hollywood celebrities," Youn tells PopEater. The "trout pout" has become slang terminology for when one gets lip injections that cause extreme puffiness and a massive change in the face's look.
Youn, who also runs a celebrity-related plastic surgery blog, tells PopEater that Lohan's drastic physical changes "are dramatic and severe for someone her age," and that her hard-living lifestyle could also have adverse effects on her looks and complexion.
"Drug and alcohol abuse are second only to sun abuse in causing premature aging," Youn tells PopEater. "These items can dehydrate the skin, cause fine and coarse wrinkles, and even cause the face to look more gaunt. Smoking is the worst of all. "
Britain's Daily Mail says that the 23-year-old starlet "appears to be tampering with her looks like an aging actress worried she won't get any more roles." The newspaper goes on to cite "her puffy face and crow's feet" as features that seem to have changed in recent months. Celebrity blog LimeLife agrees, saying Lohan likely "got injections in her lips, around her mouth, and near her eyes/forehead very recently."
Lohan's career has been an erratic roller coaster ride of both positive and negative since she burst onto the scene as an adorable child actress in 1998's 'The Parent Trap.' Her career and fame only grew from there, as she scored posh roles in movies like 'Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen' and 'Mean Girls,' propelling her into Hollywood's A-list at a very young age.
It was Lohan's post-'Mean Girls' years that turned detrimental to the star. She quickly gained a reputation as a Hollywood party girl, and rumors that her fast lifestyle was affecting her work ran rampant. In 2006, industry bigwig James G. Robinson -- whose firm wrote 'Georgia Rule,' which Lohan was working on -- wrote an open letter to Lohan directed at her behavior and work ethic. After Lohan cited exhaustion for her tardiness and inability to work, Robinson wrote: "We are well aware that your ongoing all night heavy partying is the real reason for your so called 'exhaustion.'"
2007 was a turning point for Lohan. That year, she checked into rehab on two separate occasions, and in the summer, was arrested twice for drunk driving -- once with cocaine possession charges added on.
Since that troubled summer, Lohan's career has never quite recovered to its past glory. She's had roles in the less-than-successful films 'I Know Who Killed Me,' as well as the straight-to-DVD 'Labor Pains.'

Ok I don't think she had plastic surgery and this is why. If you notice they show normal pictures of her when she was "prettier", ones that actually look good. Then they use terrible ones of her "afterward", where her face looks contorted because she's pouting her lips or in the middle of saying something (which is why they look plumper). I hate the media, anyone can make it look like they've had plastic surgery done if you pick pictures that way. Her aging like that is because of all the drug and drinking problems she had, which she's working on. And also, stop saying that she's fat or gained weight and that that's the reason she looks bad, people should not be as thin as she was!! It's unhealthy and disgusting looking, not to mention it's giving younger girls bad images of the "ideal" body type. I think everyone should just leave her alone.
