The Colombian singer Shakira insists that illegal music downloading actually makes her feel closer to her fans and supported those who used internet file-sharing after Lily Allen publicly declared her support for the Government's plans to crack down on the illegal practice.

Believe it or not, people need money to live. Perhaps Shakira has enough, but the hundreds of ppl involved in making her album need the money and sales of her songs go to those people.

So if Sharkir thinks music is a gift, why aren't her concerts free? It's like the writers strike: the people at the top don't feel the effect but the 'little people' do. Fight it, Lily Allen! Stealing is wrong.

IS she thinking about something other than money? There's no study out there that says file sharing will kill the "music" industry. It may kill the "recording" industry, but we shouldn't prop up a dead system just because they feel entitled to keep making money in the same way they have been making money for years.
I imagine a few new or less popular artists may get confused that this will "take money away from them", but that's not true. It just means they need to connect with fans (I'm sure it's hard for Lily Allen) and monetize their business in a new way. It's ok to be stupid, but you no one has to keep living that way. Lily Allen has enough money to cure herself.
