Tom Cruise's Eyes Inspired 'Psycho' Bale
By PopEater Staff Posted Oct 22nd 2009 10:27AM

In an interview with BlackBook, 'Psycho' director Mary Herron discusses how she and Bale went about crafting the delusional and homicidal Bateman character. "We talked about how Martian-like Patrick Bateman was, how he was looking at the world like somebody from another planet, watching what people did and trying to work out the right way to behave," Harron tells BlackBook.
So how exactly does that relate to Cruise, you ask?
"And then one day he [Bale] called me and he had been watching Tom Cruise on David Letterman, and he just had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes, and he was really taken with this energy," Herron said.

Ha! No wonder I like Christian Bale.

I loved that movie! Christian Bale played that charachter to a tee!
GAG---------it is pathetic that TC has enough money to pay women to pretend they are in a
"relationship"with him. Time will prove me right.
He is GAY.
Reply
Well, the thing is, so WHAT if he is gay? The biggest problem for him is that his chosen "religion" cannot accept such. If he's gay, he's gay. Just too bad he can't accept himself as such. We are what we are!
That really makes him sound like an idiot, not the psuedo-intellectual that he was going for.

Cruise's "marriage" to Ms. Holmes is a hybrid of joke and hoax. It invokes the ole' days when Cruise would ally himself with a starlet whenever a tabloid would leak info related to his alternate lifestyle. Bottom line: nobody's buying it. His recent "interview at home", negotiated with Oprah, was the catalyst for hilarity on THE SOUP; the audience howled at the obviously rehearsed dialogue. Cruise should drop this facade and disclose the truth, which would surely be of service to the gay community. His boxoffice appeal has certainly declined (saddling himself with another MISSION IMPOSSIBLE sequel as insurance, even though the previous installment was gauged as "a commercial disappointment"; VALKYRIE certainly underachieved and LIONS FOR LAMBS was a flop. It's not his homosexual preference that's prompting these failures, it was his arrogance and the "I'm not gay" deception [which transmuted into an eccentric demeanor that was spoofed on SOUTH PARK, et al]). My sympathy is with Ms. Holmes--did her agent persuade her to yield to a phony marriage? The pairing has handicapped her career (I'm elated about her stage experience but her forfeiture of screen visibility has left her in the dust).

It makes a little sense when you see the Intro to American Psycho scene.

wow someone finally described the ego maniacal douche bag TC to a tee. "I" think its genius on CB's part and funny.

Ive noticed that Tom Cruise has a blank look on his face most of the time. Like there is something going on behind that stare. He is really scarry. Like from another planet.

Every body wants a whack at Tom Cruise. I must admit it personally I don't like what he thinks he is. Arrogant; full of some concocted religion; maybe stuck in the closet;... we all know the rocks that hhave been thrown at him. Deservedly so when you condescend like he is so oblivious to. And though he is not an actor of huge substance, give the boy some sympathy because he gave us unforgettable roles in A Few Good Men, Rain Man, Born On The Fourth of July, Interview With A Vampire and a scattered other nuances like Magnolia. He makes us want to whack him on a personal level like some snot-nosed kid, but he is not without merit. Still I'd like to whack that laughing smile off his face from time to time. We all would.

I think a lot of people are just plain mean and like to bully others. Why would anyone want to smack another person's face, cause another person intentional harm, emotional grief? -- I mean what in the world has Tom C done to anyone on this board so personal that he/she feels the need to hurt him in any way? Many of you sound like children on a playground -- middle schoolers at best.

Come on windy, there is somebody you have wacked in your life besides yourself. Furthermore, A guy like Cruise who sits on public pulpit and says his religion is the only way is just full of himself. But that is Tom Cruise; the press and now the public like to push his obvious buttons like the queen of hearts in Alice in Wonderland.
I know a person (male) that Tom Cruise tried to pick up many, many years ago, when he was just breaking into the movies. I wonder what his religion would think of this?

I like Tom as an actor, thats for sure, I would rather never hear about his personal life. I don't want to ruin what I see when I go to a show with him in it, hearing about his religion...kids...whatever.

That's just Christian Bale playing Christian Bale. He stole his starey look from Kourtney Kardashian's baby daddy, Scott. Not a stretch from the real Christian, IMO. Never saw the movie and now I know why I shouldn't.
Reply
If Bale wants to see a psycho he should just look in the mirror.
He is just jealous that Tom is a better actor and a better human being than he is. I have never heard of Cruise belittling another actor or member of his crew or beating up on his mother & sister.
Reply
For the love of PETE! Chris Bale didn't "beat up" his mother or sister! Britain's assault laws are FAR STRICTER than ours, and you can be arrested/charged with 'assault' for merely getting into a heated argument with someone. Know this from my ex-FIL, who was an expat in England for a number of years.
Am I saying Chris Bale is an exemplary human? No. He has his foibles like the rest of us. Is he a good actor? Decent. Does he make entertaining movies? Yeah. Do all these things mean I should hate on him? No.

Tom's looks have gone down, I think it'll be worse from here. That paired with his stumpy body, he'll be put out to pasture soon. I don't like Christian Bale, because he yelled at a crew member on "his" movie, T4.
Reply
Well, the guy he yelled at deserved it. He walked on set in the middle of a scene! I would have been pretty peeved myself!
