Jodie Sweetin is finally coming clean -- about not really coming clean. Despite her claims that she had kicked her drug habit, the 'Full House' star admits she's was just lying to everyone. In her new tell-all book 'unSweetined,' Sweetin says she relapsed but kept booking gigs to make quick money to pay for her drug addiction.
"I was back to partying like I was at my worst, spending seven hundred dollars a week on meth [and] coke." she wrote. She even reveals downing a bag of coke right before one of her interviews. After the jump, read the juicy excerpts >>
In an excerpts (via Huffington Post), Sweetin writes that during her sobriety college tour at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, "I thought for sure that one of the professors would take one look at me and kick me out. But none did. They wanted to hear about the trials and tribulations of Jodie Sweetin, or at least the Jodie Sweetin I had created by appearing on Good Morning America and talking to People magazine," she continued.
"The relapse started one day, just a few months after my GMA spot, when I got a random phone call from a friend who I used with and who occasionally sold me drugs. I invited her to my place. I was in an apartment at the time. I knew it was a really bad idea to invite her over but I wanted to test myself, I guess. We hung out, played cards. I told her I hadn't done meth in a while. One thing led to another and just like that, I was back," she writes.
"I was living a complete lie. But unfortunately, guilt doesn't make you stop. I talked about growing up on television and about how great my life was now that I was sober... The little bit of coke that I had done before the speech wasn't enough to make me forget how bad I felt for doing what I was doing. The guilt was eating away at me. I was struggling to keep it together, but no one realized that. I finished. They applauded. Standing ovation. Just how I liked it. And it was over."
Sweetin admits she returned to her room tired but made time for one more hit. "I was just so tired. Tired of lying. Tired of pretending to be someone that I wasn't. I took a deep breath and walked out of the lecture hall. I went back to my hotel room and buried my face in my hands. I couldn't keep doing this. It had to end.But not today. I wiped away the tears and finished the baggie of coke."
Chuck, you will never care unless it's one of your own or someone you love. At what length would you go to help them or save them? I don't mean enable them, but I challenge you to look at your God-given purpose in life and find out how God can use your sobriety to affect others in a positive way.
I have had the great pleasure of working with Jodie. I cast her in three projects that will come out by 2010 including two feature films. She is a true professional who is honest enough to reveal she is a real human being. Give her a break and learn something from a good person who went through something that often kills.
According to her interview with a magazine, her drug use started after feeling isolated in middle school after Full House was cancled. She said she had no idea of how to really socialize without a script. However, turning to drugs was a stupid thing to do. Non-famous people can feel isolated during times of their lives but that doesn't mean they go out, get high, and who know what else. She just couldn't take the pressure of being a a former child star.
WHO BETTER TO HELP SOMEONE THAN ONE THAT IS HURTING--I COMMEND HER STRENGTH--AND THINK OF THE KIDS SHE HELPED WITH HER SHARING--SHAME ON THE PRESS TO SHOW A LET DOWN--FOR MANY HEARD HER WORD--GO GIRL--YOU HAVE EVERYTHING IN FRONT OF YOU--TO HELL WITH THOSE THAT DON'T BELIEVE--GET CLEAN AND SPREAD YOUR WISDOM AND KICK SOME BUTT--IN A GOOD WAY OF COURSE
I have been a fan of hers since 1989 and I was heartbroken when I found out about her meth addiction years ago. My mom was a coke addict and it took her forever to stop. She even lied about the same thing Jodie lied about and it hurt, but, speaking to professionals helped me realize that the addict mind is a disorder and it's hard to quit something like drugs. I don't know Jodie Sweetin personally, but, I pray that she stays clean and sober, if not for herself, but for her beautiful daughter. It's not for us to pass judgment on Jodie. She has struggles, like ALL of us. The best thing we can do is uplift her and pray for her. I might actually buy her book and then let my mom read it. My mom has been clean and sober for 3 years and I am proud of her. Jodie can do it, and I know she will. Keep smilin Jodie and remember that God loves you and your daughter loves you.
Yay for Jodie! I actually know her personally through a recovery program and I can attest to her sobriety. Jodie is a wonderful woman that alot of people look up to. She's rolling with the punches and trudging this road of happy destiny with integrity!

I don't believe she is clean. Unfortunately, I believe that she is running out of resources to get her "drug money" and now is coming up with this story. Anyway, all she does not have any other acting experience except Full House- and that was such a lame show. Does this make her a "famous Hollywood/TV actress"? Well, sorry, not in my book... I'm not impressed. Anyway, I know several people who are heavy drug users and they will tell you stories about how they hit rock bottom- seen the light and now are clean. Then they go and steal from their families/friends in order to feed their drug habit. Bottom line, will I buy this book? Absolutely not.
