Tom Cruise Has Worst Week Ever

Tom Cruise probably didn't get a memo warning him this week was going to suck. So we imagine his head is probably still spinning from all the abuse being heaped on him from every angle. First we find out that Cruise inspired Christian Bale's sociopath killer in 'American Psycho.' Then blast from the past Bronson Pinchot, who starred with Cruise in the eighties classic 'Risky Business', spilled the fact that two decades ago Tom was "the biggest bore on the face of the planet" who made "constant homophobic comments" on set. And then Alec Baldwin had to go calling Tom out at the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards, telling him to take a $29 million pay cut in order to even up the pay-scale between men and women in Hollywood.

"Beating up on Tom Cruise has been one of Hollywood's favorite pastimes for a while - it stems from the combination of his incredibly high profile, random dating history and religious beliefs. When Alec Baldwin cracked a few jokes at Tom's expense recently at the Elle event, even Katie Holmes laughed," says PopWrap's Jarett Wieselman.

Now we do have to say that Cruise didn't do his public image any favors when he called a group of protesters outside a big Scientology gala in London a bunch of "squirrels...trapped in an electronic incident," but most of what went down over the past several days was largely outside of Cruise's control and now his camp has to scramble to make him likable again.

Of course, the Cruise public relations machine must have this process down pat by now.

Back in 2008 Cruise was able to overcome America's image of him as a couch-hopping past-his prime religious nut who hates on depressed pregnant women with his cameo as the ballsy, portly, sweaty studio exec Les Grossman in 'Tropic Thunder.'

Just by donning a fat suit and doing some bad white man dancing Cruise was able to make everyone forget all those times he lost it on 'Oprah'...and the 'Today' show...and 'Access Hollywood.'

Radio Host and author of 'The Cult of Celebrity' Cooper Lawrence thinks this time around Cruise needs to just shut his mouth and make movies.

"No one wants to hear what you have to say about any of this. Talk about your movies and that is all," Lawrence says. "Being a celebrity does not give you the right or the education to comment on every aspect of society. It is irresponsible when you know people around the world are listening to you and broadcasting your every single word."

Yes, Cruise could just lay low for awhile. But there is another strategy that just might give him the PR boost he needs.

Even though America thought Cruise was full-on bonkers when he almost broke Oprah's couch to declare his love for Katie Holmes, his marriage has given him the get out of jail free card that just keeps on giving...Suri Cruise.

"The smartest thing Tom Cruise has ever done is conceive Suri with his wife Katie Holmes. Sure her paternity/existence was in doubt for the first 4 months of her life, but all anyone can think of now when they see the two of them together is, 'awwww.'" Wieselman says.

"Seeing Tom play the doting dad really humanizes him in a way we've never witnessed before. So while he might still draw fire on his own, when Suri's sitting in Tom's arms, she becomes his scandal shield."

So at the end of the day, daddy may seem crazy but everyone loves them some Suri. So the quick fix for Cruise: Get working on Suri Part Deux.

Great Balls of Fire! He will forever be in risky business, definitely feeling the need for speed, loves the color of money, and who can deny his incredible performance in born on the fourth of july. It will be a sad day when taps is played for Tom as I have grown up with him, and no matter how many mission impossibles he makes or lives through, he has and always be the BEST!

I see that one of the biggest aspects of mexican culture is steadily permeating that of the USA. It's the aspect of lifting people up into higher levels of society and fame then shooting them down out of petty jealousy. I'm not a Cruise fan, but I didn't see anything wrong with him jumping on O's couch. I just saw someone who was really in love and wanted to show the world how he felt. What's the big deal about that? O could afford 20 million couches. He was just happy and expressing it on his own way. It's not like he smacked someone in the face or knocked someone down. I don't get this society where everyone has to behave a certain way and there are rules on expressing such wonderful emotions if it harms no one, damages nothing. And I wish I had his 'bad week' life too. but then while I'm dreaming might as well dream for a $10 million dollars.

Actually Scientology doesn't have a set dogma or a god to put faith in. You pay for "self spiritual awareness" through auditing and training, so you yourself can ascend from the 7th spiritual dynamic to the eighth dynamic. This is why Tom is a nut-bar.

My sentiments rival, nearly to the word of, Cooper Lawrence when he says: 'Being a celebrity does not give you the right or the education to comment on every aspect of society'. WE ARE ONLY READING ABOUT TOM CRUISE - someone who memorizes lines for a living and also thinks they know everything. Take his Wife and Daughter out of what may be 'Damage Control', and you have someone not even worth commenting any further about.

I never liked Tom Cruise ever. I could never see what anyone saw in him as an actor and with all hi smoney you'd think he'd get himself a better haircut and quit looking like a little boy who'd father gave him a bad bowl cut. Come to think of it didn't Hitler have the same cut. (coincidence?) I feel so bad for Suri...she is adorable and stuck with brainless parents. He can't good PR so he makes sure Suri gets it for him. I thought it was kinda cute that Tom was 'over-the-top-In-Love' with Katie and expressed it on Oprah! I think most women wouldn't mind that their boy-friends ~ husbands ~ were more demonstative about their affections (well, and few of our spouses are invited to appear on Oprah!) As to the faux pax in the Today Show, I can't stand Matt Lauer ... he's SUCH an arrogant bastard ... I would argue with him over just about anything! And, besides, since all that Brooke and Tom dealt with the matter, personally, and remain good friends, so, why does the press insist on attempting to make all that HISTORY such a 'big deal' even yet? As to Bronson Pinchot 'reporting' on Tom twenty years ago? Who gives a damn what this 'has-been' says, does or thinks? He's made a cheap shot at Tom (a huge target) to get HIS OWN name in the paper, on the Internet and on every celebrity talk show possible! People like him will say anything for the attention! He's a 'user!' As to Alec Baldwin? Well ... er ... uh ... while I like this man as an actor, he is NO EXAMPLE of how to behave pertinent to 'former wives' and the use of the telephone ... and, besides, whatever was said and how it was said made Katie laugh, so I wouldn't think Alec's comments were much of a 'big deal.' And as to those (here, commenting!) and those elsewhere who like to comment on Tom's beliefs, what in the hell do any of you REALLY know? Nothing! And even if you THINK you do, it's just none of your damned business what Tom or anyone else believes! It's a free country (although there are some who would like it otherwise!) and we are allowed here ~ at least at present ~ to believe what and how we wish! Obviously, some people ~ like Sadgalinsd ~ don't have enough to do! I wish Tom and his family the best!
