U2 Losing Elevation From Election High
U2 lead singer
Bono has lost some of the optimism gained during President
Barack Obama's election win last November.
"I didn't think it could come to this so quickly, after the joyous occasion of that election," Bono said in a chat with the Associated Press. "I thought America was looking good. ... Things are getting a little rough now," said the celebrated rock n' roll front man when interviewed during their '360' tour.
U2 performed the song "City of Blinding Lights" during the presidential inauguration this past January.
"The Obama administration is just getting going," remarked Bono, confident in the President's campaign promises, especially regarding funding to fight AIDS in Africa. "(Obama) has promised to double aid over the next years, because even though (President George W.) Bush tripled it, ... the United States is still about half as what European countries give as a percentage, and I think he knows that's not right."
U2's latest album 'No Line on the Horizon' debuted at the top of the charts when it was released in March. It has sold 1 million copies but is the group's lowest selling album in more than a decade.
Bono and U2 has ventured into philanthropy and human rights including Amnesty International as well as campaigns for HIV/AIDS and debt relief in Africa.

There is no way in a country as great as ours, that one person should be homeless. BUT instead of thinking about that, all the liberals, includung the Obama white house, who want to give money to other countries. And with the debt we are in now, we cannot help anyone but US.

celebrities have no idea what its like to be american. 1 year ago, all you heard from every tv talk show was "he's the right guy for the job" "I think its time someone else got a chance at bat" from the celebrities who worship obama. They don't speak for americans. I feel bad for obama, because soon the media will switch from a left bias, to a right one. Bono doesn't know anything about being a hard working average american who can barely afford to keep food on the table, let alone help others. I'm not saying its not in our hearts, its just that we can't afford it right now. God bless America.

Bono's politacal views are hated in his own country!!! Friends were in Ireland during the Guiness celebrations and everybody at every age was cheering and singing with Tom Jones (who's Welch by the way)as he was playing during a televised concert throught out the country. But when Bono when on, everybody Boo'd him. Who cares what he thinks!!! He's not even loved in his own country.

I wish too that this guy would put a sock in it and stick to music. Nobel Peace Prize? All he did was strong arm money from administrations for his favorite cause. If the governments in Africa were a little less corrupt their people would be a lot better off. Corruption is rampant and people are suffering. But we have problems stateside!

HAH ha ha...
I guess it really isn't difficult to understand why U2's sales are in the pooper.
Perhaps their Largest Market is becoming TIRED of being called SELFISH by POMPOUS DINGBATS.

Mr. Bono...please dont talk down to America. Add up all the aid America has given and said, dont worry no paybacks are necessary. And you will find Europe, Asia and Africa are STILL deeply in debt to America. President Bush TRIPLES Aids funding....and you STILL WANT MORE. And then add in the aid given that America still hasnt "forgiven". Facts are that Bono and his ilk were very very happy that President Bush and the Republicans were taken down, figuring that liberals would throw more money their way. ...LOL gosh you Europeans are dense!!!

You just can't please these people. The more you give the more they want. Show business and common sense rarely meet.

Bono can join the club. I have never seen such blatent dismissal of those that supported him and bought his beautiful words. If Obama can speak to it or about it or at it, he can't deal wit it.

Typical liberal celebrity...
So, "Bush tripled it.." and, Obama 'promised' to double it..
Yet, Bono believes the US is going in the right direction with Obama...
Bush, bad.. Obama, Good... Typical liberal brainwashing.....
by the way, does Bono realize that statistically
Conservatives donate more than liberals?!
Conservatives donate more money, more time, and more blood than liberals... Look it up.. It's a fact..
(Bush/Cheney donated more than Obama/Biden..)
But, the media and the ignorant democrats will continue to believe otherwise...
