Musical master Andrew Lloyd Webber has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, but luckily it was caught "in its very early stages," a spokesman disclosed in a statement."Andrew is now undergoing treatment and expects to be fully back at work before the end of the year," it said.
Lloyd Webber, 61, is currently working on a sequel for 'Phantom of the Opera' called 'Lover Never Dies.' It is expected to make its Broadway debut next November. He is also set to judge a BBC talent show next year.

What absolute rubbish. Lloyd Webber is a musical genius. How anyone could listen the the music he has written and not be awed by it is beyond me.

Anyone who follows music.. or more importantly, has tryed to play and write it knows how gifted Lloyd Webber is.
Phantom is the biggest musical play of all time and is the Sargent Pepper of modern theater.
I have little comment on the basis of using the Phantom as the lead character as yes, rather silly.
So is Beauty and the Beat.
Both great Love Stories with fabulous music and but odd characters.
May he recover fully and have many more hits!
Andrew Lloyd Webber has written some great musicals. Phantom, and Evita being the best of the lot.
I've been a little disappointed in his musicals since Phantom however. Aspects Of Love was a mess, and the play he wrote with Jim Steinman was abysmal. I'm not sure a sequel for Phantom would work, it may lessen the impact of the original. I think Phantom itself needs to be put on a shelf for 30 years or so, and let someone else take a crack at it.
He is a musical genius. ANything he has composed is fabulous. May he recover soon.

And you certainly sound "normal" ...like something we should aspire to be like...? I'll take a thousand Andrew Lloyd Webbers over the likes of you. May he recover fully and completely.

fixintoporkyou2 You need to get a life Your's is apparently lacking and Webber has done way more with his life than you have.

Sorry for typo in previous comment.
Should read:
"Beauty and the Beast"
It's a keyboard thing.
Point is... Lloyd Webber flys high above most others and has the accomplishments to prove it!

I am a Republican for all intent and purpose, (raised Democrat, registered as an Independent when I came of age, and now forced into a conservative slant rather than agree with giving the benefits of this great country away to anyone but the American people,)and I am disgusted at anyone attacking this musical genius because of his Liberalism. The vehement division of this country has absolutely killed compassion and taken away any hope of responsible compromise. Good Luck ALW. May your fight against this horrible disease be a successful one.

How said that you have been brainwashed to believe that "liberal" equates to anti-American. I think you need a course in political science because you clearly don't know what the term "liberal" actually means as it applies to politics.

The man is a genius. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Sir Webber.

I have breast cancer. And I beat it. How come people like me aren't in the news?

Not taking anything away from you having had that dreadful disease and God bless you for beating cancer. But the reason you're not in the news is I'm assuming you're not a musical genius and haven't written numerous Broadway mega hits.
Very sorry to hear ALW is ill! I'll remember him in my prayers. Sounds like he'll be ok, though. He's done some really nice music. I loved Phantom of the Opera!~
And Cats was a new kind of musical. He took T.S. Elliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" and turned it into a musical. It's a wonderful book of poems Elliot wrote for his friends, all about cats. I had discovered that book when I was in college, and I had memorized a few of the poems. My favorite poem was "McCavity the Mystery Cat". ("McCavity, the Mystery Cat, he's Scotland Yard's despair, for when they reach the scene of crime, McCavity's NOT THERE!") And then there's "THe Naming of Cats" ("The naming of cats is a difficult matter, and you might think me mad as a hatter, when I say that a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES!")
Looking forward to ALW's new work!
