The woman who was raped by Roman Polanski when she was 13 years old has asked a Los Angeles court to dismiss the charges against the director, who is fighting extradition to the U.S. following his arrest in Zurich last month. Samantha Geimer says she has been barraged with media inquiries since Polanski's arrest, and that since she's publicly forgiven the 'Chinatown' director for his crime, she'd like for the charges to be dropped. In the court filing, Geimer says she's received nearly 500 phone calls from the media, including interview offers from Oprah Winfrey and Larry King."The pursuit has caused her to have health-related issues," the filing says of Geimer's health, adding that the scrutiny has "caused her performance at her job to be interfered with and has caused the understandable displeasure of her employer and the real possibility that Samantha could lose her job."
The filing's final words? "Leave her alone."
Geimer publicly forgave Polanski in 1997. She was hoping if the case and incident was put to rest, the details of it that continually ran with each Polanski headline would cease.
"True as they may be, the continued publication of those details causes harm to me, my beloved husband, my three children and my mother," Geimer said recently.
In 1977, Polanski lured the 13-year-old aspiring model Geimer into Nicholson's home for a photo shoot, where he gave her champagne and prescription drugs. Despite her requests to be taken home, Polanski then took nude photos of her in a hot tub and had sex with her. He later pleaded guilty to having sex with a minor.
"What happened that night, it's hard to believe, but it paled in comparison to what happened to me in the next year of my life," Geimer said recently.
She later told PEOPLE magazine in 1997 that Polanski "did something really gross to me, but it was the media that ruined my life."

its all well and good that his """VICTIM""" has forgiven him, but its an INSULT to all the other rape and incest and molestation victims for him to just be forgiven and nothing else... Forgiveness from the victim is important, forgiveness from God is important..but socities LAW still has to be obeyed and punishment mest be met...If he is just let off--then its only fair that others just get off also and we all know where that would lead and that its not going to happen....If a murder asks forgiveness and the family gives it--do we just let the murder just walk out of jail--NO, he still has to serve his time....

I agree fully, one thing being overlooked is that he is already convicted of the crime and skipped out and rightfully now facing charges of a felon fleeing. The maximum sentence is what he deserves and should be made to serve it in full.
She should have no say whatsoever as the crime was committed when she was a minor of 13 years old. Charges should be the same now as they were then, regardless of what she has to say. I'm hearing that his sentence could be as little as 2 years, which is a total joke. How about tacking on 10-15 more for fleeing the country? Only in Caleeeefornia!

She got a $500,000 settlement for this act of atrocity which she believes will help every other young girl being abused. Shame on her.
What would she and the rest of the entertainment idiots supporting Polanski do if it was their 13 year old daughter? I think they would be singing a different tune.
Put the guy in jail. He should have been there a long time ago.
and as for all the bull retail ads placed on here--studies show--you alienate 78% of the people that feel YOU are INTRUSIVE jerks and WOULDNT buy from you...so go stand on the corner where you belong and sell your crap there

Ms. Geimer seems to forget that Polanski pled guilty and although I am sure she just wishes it would all go away she does all victims of rape a huge disservice in asking that charges be dropped. yes her mother made a huge mistake in allowing her 13 year old child go off with a 40 something man. Polanski chose to leave the country before sentencing...a major coward if anything. And Ms. Geimer has chose to forgive him...her choice. But she should not blame the media for what has happened to her. As for the $500,000 settlement, it is my understanding that Polanski never paid it. All the money in the world cannot change the terrible things that he did to her but he still is a criminal and a child rapist....she does not have to support or participate in having him returned to face justice but he needs to pay for his crime.

She is in danger of losing of her job now because of her health problems and the media. Polanski should have to pay her the $500,000 plus interest from the date the court ordered it. Oh, and this article doesn't mention that he gave her qualudes and sodomized her. I do think Polanski should go to jail and do his time just like any other criminal with extra charges for fleeing the country and not paying this girl her awarded settlement.
it is not her call. he reped her when she was 13 i'm sure after the civil settelment and time she wants it to be over. but what message does this send to all men who can afford to leave the US. go out and rape anyone just go live happily ever after anywhere but here. WTF castrate his ass then let him sit in jail til death.

dear ms greimer,
i realize you want the charges dropped. i also know you were paid a sum of money by mr polanski yrs ago. since i am only 14 y/o and a girl due you think men who have sex with 13 y/o girls should be allowed. can you come to my 8th grade class and explain how this is okay?

Hey Jake, next time you wanna portray being a 14 year old girl, try using a name other than your own!! Idiot...
As a single dad raising my 14 yr old daughter and 11 yr old son...Oh man this pisses me off...all these years later i think his punishment should be even harsher than what it would of been had he been tried back when it 1st happened...he scammed the system and finally got caught...and now MUST pay for his atrocities....this man took a child...took porno graphic pictures of her, forced alcohol and drugs on her, raped and sodomized her...all after she begged to be taken home, and then fled the country...he needs the maximum punishment for each crime committed...in other words he needs to die in prison PERIOD...with the tag-SEX OFFENDER/CHILD MOLESTER/RAPEST

CONFUCIOUS SAY: RAPE IMPOSSIBLE, GIRL WITH DRESS UP RUN FASTER THAN MAN WITH PANTS DOWN. 13-YEAR OLD GIRLS LIKE TO SCREW, TOO, DON'T FORGET!

Crucify him!!

I wonder if it is even possible to drop charges when the man is already been convicted. Mr. Polanski never paid the woman any money. She probably wants this all to go away and thinks it will if the charges are dropped.
He should not be excused from this crime just because Hollywood thinks he is a "gifted director". I have known "gifted" people who were real jerks and not nice people. He needs to pay for his crime and this was a crime. Doping a 13 year old girl and then raping her. This man makes me sick and I can't wait until USA law enforcement gets their hands on him and brings him back to pay for his crime.

When I first heard Ms. Geimer wanted the case dropped I felt that her wishes should be honored not because "he's so gifted" but because it was/is her life. But after thinking about it I changed my mind. Polanski committed a heinous (sp) against a child no less and should be made to pay for it. If he raped a woman the same should apply, but her being a child at the time is even more disgusting. The thing to remember is that it is the State of California's duty to enforce his conviction - Ms. Geimer's feelings should not be an influence on that decision.

Alot of you making some of these comments, need to get a life!! This victim MADE her personal choice!! She wants all of this to just disappear!! Some of you act as though you're PERSONALLY INVOLVED!! Like you think this woman is retarded, and one of you needs to STEP UP and demand justice that SHE DOESN'T EVEN CARE ABOUT!! Some of you, probably were'nt even BORN YET, or were really Small children when it even happened!!! This case is OLD!! It's REALLY STUPID, how some of you, are letting this "OLD" case, get your panties in such a twist!!!

Something is rotten in denmark.
Why would she want him to get away with this?
Did he buy her off???

Did you read the article? It says that she blames the media for what happened AFTER the rape, not for the rape. Even now more than 30 years later, the woman is still being hounded for interviews. Not saying he shouldn't serve the time he plead guilty to, but there's no reason to harass the victim as though they were the criminal with phone calls at her workplace.

Uh, the "victim"? She was not "lured" to Polanski's (or rather, Jack Nicholson's) house, she went there with her mom's consent to have some photos taken for a European magazine. She also admitted that, at 13, she was not a virgin before Polanski's photo session. Polanski offered her a quaalude, and champagne; I doubt very much this innocent shrinking violet needed any arm-twisting. Should he have known better to have had sex with a minor? Yes, but she was just a pig. And her mom should be jailed, she's the real criminal here. I guess if the mom had had a son, he would have been dropped off daily at Michael Jackson's house for playdates. And oh yes, the "victim"s family was paid off by Polanski way back when. But I'm sure that's not why this happened. Right?
