Taylor Swift Caught in Swastika Scandal

Taylor Swift has found herself in the middle of a photo scandal, as pictures of her standing with a male wearing a painted-on swastika at Katy Perry's birthday party are creating a whirlwind on the Web. In the photo, Swift is seen embracing a fellow partygoer, and both are painted on and splattered with paint -- which was the theme of Perry's party. The male Swift is with, however, has a neck-to-waist giant red swastika painted on his white shirt. Swift's camp has issued a statement regarding the photo, telling TMZ "Taylor took pictures with about 100 people that night ... she doesn't know who this guy is and she didn't realize what was on his shirt."

Blogs like WWTDD have begun noticing, and comment boards are also on fire. A photo of the two, purportedly posted by the male in the photo, accompanied a thread titled "Taylor Swift and I Are Officially Dating." While there's no name given of the male, many commenters took to Taylor's defense, with one saying: "Or maybe you're just a needy loser who harassed her for celeb pics so you could seem cool to a bunch of strangers."

WWTDD asks in its headline about the post: 'Taylor, What Are You Doing?.' Blackbook, reacting to early-on photos of Swift simply in proximity of the swastika shirt, wrote: "Sure, Swift isn't swastika-clad herself. But as a celebrity whose star is sparkling especially brightly following some incident that we've long forgotten that left her looking a lot like those wounded kittens on those Sarah McLachlan-ASPCA commercials, any measure of swastika-proximity is not advisable."

Swift's image as the good, clean country pop star has been blemishless throughout her career, while fellow young stars like
Miley Cyrus and Lindsay Lohan have often found themselves at the center of controversy.

Cyrus caused some racial uproar when she was photographed pulling her eyes in a gesture that many thought was mocking Asians. She was also the center of a major scandal when she posed topless -- albeit covered in a sheet -- for an Annie Liebovitz Vanity Fair shoot that caused an uproar.

Britain's Prince Harry also found himself in hot water when he went to a costume party in a Nazi uniform, complete with swastika armband. Photos of the costume made front-page newspaper headlines, and Harry later apologized "for any offense or embarrassment he has caused."

This only shows that doesn't have the right people around her who are suppose to be protecting her best interest. These days people she the swastika as a symbol of hate and racism but before it was stolen and tainted, its was used by an indian tribe to symbolize peace (research it). It difficult to say whether or not Taylor is a racist because I don't know her so I won't judge her. Intelligent people know that racism only creates problems, perpetuates hate and resolve nothing to make our world a better place. Racist hate themselves. They have no self esteem, they lack intelligence and they're good-for-nothing. Either you're part of the solution or the problem and intelligent people know what racist are...Parents that raise their kids to be racist should have them taken away for child abuse.

Who really cares.....I see Americans walking around all the time with Japanese symbols tatooed on their bodies......Hey they bombed Pearl Harbor. Nobody seems to care about that. I also find it funny that anyone would expect that a 19 year old in this day and age would know better. It is just the way this country has become(Since Bush was in office). No matter what you say or do or wear you will offend someone. If words and symbols scare you grow up.....LOL

There would have been "scandalous" words if his shirt had a Christian cross, the flag of the USA, a star of David, or something else that is considered "derogatory" by certain people. Get over it, folks. She seems like a classy young lady, but if this type of "reporting" keeps following her, she'll end up like a whole bunch of them - talented, classless, used-up, unscrupuous jerks. P.S. Had the guy not had a swastika painted on, who would have even noticed him (except to remark that he looked like a geek)?

Actually the red swastika is the buddist symbol for good luck. The Nazis used a black swastika. The Finnish use black swastika for their airforce flag. In fact that swastika has been used as symbol long before the Nazis adopted the symbol. It is all in the context - the mere fact that a person is wearing a swastika does not mean that he or she supports Nazi beliefs.

What you call a "swastika" was used by the Native Americans long before Hitler was born and I'll be damned if I'll let him steal it from me. I wear it on my medicine bag and those who ask about it, I educate them.

I ask, if Hitler had used the cross, which some cultures see the "swastika" as, would you Christians have stopped wearing it?

Taylor is no Nazi lover. Anyone that would believe that is a total moron. She was partying and probably did not realize just where this would go. It is not like SHE IS WEARING ONE OR POINTING HIS OUT IN THE PHOTO. Jeez people get a life. Go back to school and learn something for pete sakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Onward and Upwards Taylor. The blame should be put on the guy, not on Taylor. Taylor is just posing for a picture with him. She may not even know him, and it certainly does not mean that she endorses what's on his shirt. When a celebrity is scandal free, everyone feels a need to find dirt to throw on them.

Alright seriously she is just a celeb taking a picture with a fan. She wasn't wearing or laughing about what the guy was wearing. In all that i have read not one person even mentioned any wrong doing the guy did. HE was wearing the shirt therefor HE should be the center of your so called witch hunt. Jesus people leave the young girl celebs alone. Stop finding reasons to put them in controversies. Now if you have a pic of them snorting coke or having gang bangs then yes by all means point it out. If they are using the bathroom I dont need to know about it.
