Taylor Swift Caught in Swastika Scandal

Taylor Swift has found herself in the middle of a photo scandal, as pictures of her standing with a male wearing a painted-on swastika at Katy Perry's birthday party are creating a whirlwind on the Web. In the photo, Swift is seen embracing a fellow partygoer, and both are painted on and splattered with paint -- which was the theme of Perry's party. The male Swift is with, however, has a neck-to-waist giant red swastika painted on his white shirt. Swift's camp has issued a statement regarding the photo, telling TMZ "Taylor took pictures with about 100 people that night ... she doesn't know who this guy is and she didn't realize what was on his shirt."

Blogs like WWTDD have begun noticing, and comment boards are also on fire. A photo of the two, purportedly posted by the male in the photo, accompanied a thread titled "Taylor Swift and I Are Officially Dating." While there's no name given of the male, many commenters took to Taylor's defense, with one saying: "Or maybe you're just a needy loser who harassed her for celeb pics so you could seem cool to a bunch of strangers."

WWTDD asks in its headline about the post: 'Taylor, What Are You Doing?.' Blackbook, reacting to early-on photos of Swift simply in proximity of the swastika shirt, wrote: "Sure, Swift isn't swastika-clad herself. But as a celebrity whose star is sparkling especially brightly following some incident that we've long forgotten that left her looking a lot like those wounded kittens on those Sarah McLachlan-ASPCA commercials, any measure of swastika-proximity is not advisable."

Swift's image as the good, clean country pop star has been blemishless throughout her career, while fellow young stars like
Miley Cyrus and Lindsay Lohan have often found themselves at the center of controversy.

Cyrus caused some racial uproar when she was photographed pulling her eyes in a gesture that many thought was mocking Asians. She was also the center of a major scandal when she posed topless -- albeit covered in a sheet -- for an Annie Liebovitz Vanity Fair shoot that caused an uproar.

Britain's Prince Harry also found himself in hot water when he went to a costume party in a Nazi uniform, complete with swastika armband. Photos of the costume made front-page newspaper headlines, and Harry later apologized "for any offense or embarrassment he has caused."

Why is the media making such a big deal about this ? When our Government is trying to take away rights and lead us into Socialism and Communism ? Wake Up America ! Look at all the choices Obama has made over the last few months, these are much more serious than some young person with paint on his T shirt, Get real and report on something worth reading. Hey guys. The symbol on the guys shirt is a hindu religious symbol. Notice that it is backwards from a Nazi Swastika. You can see them displayed all over India.

I'm not even a Taylor Swift fan, but this is just plain stupid. To hold her accountable for what some idiot is wearing, when all she did was take a picture with a fan is just looking for controversy where there is none. Now, if she gets her picture taken attending a pro-Nazi rally, THEN you have cause to start complaining. Until she actually does something to make you question her, let her enjoy her time in the spotlight. She's earned at least that.

The majority answered no. Were they looking at the same picture I was? How could she not be aware of what was on that guy's shirt? That swastika was not that small. My eyesight isn't that great and I'm sure I'd have noticed it if I were as close to this character as she was. As she obviously can see, she must have been aware of what was on the guy's shirt, but didn't care enough to say no to having a picture taken with him. Either that or she might have thought that the picture wouldn't go public. To have anyone say she wasn't aware just isn't believeable.

Taylor is not stupid. She knows what that sign represents. The guy on his blog, even said that his friend drew it on his shirt because he looked like a Nazi Youth. She always had a fake good girl image to me. Oh, and are those above pictures finally her without her extensions and blond hair dye.

This fellow was an invited guest of Kate Perry. Who in the world does she have as friends? Has anyone asked Kate Perry about this? Maybe I'm jumping to a conclusion that Perry invited him. Someone invited him or maybe he came with an invited guest. It shouldn't really be that hard to track him down, identify him and ask some simple questions. One question would be, who invited you?

I have read the articles and replies thus far. As a Jewish Woman, who is cognizant of other cultures, I am simply unable to believe the ignorance that abounds. One, Taylor, though she may be a celebrity, is not THAT stupid she didn't realize the symbol. Two, regardless of what it USED to be used for it now represents Nazi germany and is used by those who wish to copy the horrible atrocity. Third, and no offense, I can clearly see why Americans are considered the most illiterate and ignorant in the world. Judaism a race? He was wearing it because of Hinduism? Get a life? It is well known that people repeat history, check out the current state of the union, all we need are more of these pics to ensure that a Nazi state rises again... and this time it can be in our own backyards. slow news day. Taylor has the right to take a picture with anyone she wants. The shirt does not represent her. Another media frenzy alert! Jesus, I guess Hilton and Spears are not interesting to the media anymore. Now they want to pick on this sweet girl because they think they can, seeing her get duped by that bonehead on stage. As someone has was recently as one of these celebrity shindigs (personally I'd call it a zoo!) - these celeb's really do take photo after photo after photo - I doubt she did even glance at the tee shirt this guy was wearing and a few seconds later she was probably taking another photo. This is just another paparazzi attempt at making someone look bad. I mean, Prince Harry really was a jerk for wearing a Nazi uniform to a party - he had to have known how people would react, but Taylor, give the girl a break, she stood next to a jerk for a photo who probably was planted so they could get the photo - think about it people, what's the odds of someone actually painting that swastika on their tee shirt if not to get someone in a compromising photo. Don't be a sheep, this is all faked up by some idiot just looking to sell a photo and this time Taylor Swift was the target!

Last time I checked, she wasn't blind; she saw the swastika and ignored it. As a normal human being with a conscience, I'm not going to take a picture with a d-bag wearing a swastika, so as a celebrity, why would she take a pic with him? Is she really that dumb?! I am so sick of her; the only reason that people even care about her now is because of the VMA incident. But just because she was victimized doesn't mean that she is free to do something so stupid and irresponsible.
