Sounds like Kevin Spacey is an aggressive prick with no compassion for those he considers beneath him, or the rights of others. I guess he lives the exalted and isolated life, surrounded by "yes" men, and doesn't get that it's rude and ignorant to smoke in a restaurant, not to mention against the law. Owners of establishments that don't protect their workers should be boycotted.

You seem terribly compelled to jump right in and believe some one-sided article you read on the internet. Is this the way you run your entire life? If so, it must be a disaster.

This story is a TOTAL fabrication. Turner is a struggling actor trying to get his name in the papers. You suckers fell for it too.

I think that ALL so called actors should rember that its the general public that makes them stars not the moviesI personnaly neve5r4 liked the person. I wont degrade the reference Man, by calling Himn one. It Takes consideration of others an Common Sense to be called a person it takes more mjuch more to be called a Man Or Woman for that matter. I dont think He's a good canidate for either.

Nothing was said about that!

Most actors believe they are above the law and rules are for anyone but them.
I have been in restaurants where actors smoked (in violation of city ordinances), mocked those who criticized them, and made dinner fairly unpleasant for others dining in the restaurant.
I am not an actor . . . struggling or
otherwise . . . but it certainly sounds feasible. However, in the end, it's truth is only known to those present.

They would boycott the restaurant to send a message to the owner. You cannot allow your employees to be treated like garbage, no matter who the guest.

Not to say there aren't any, but I've yet to ever see an owner that will fire someone just because some celebrity says so. Matter of fact, I've seen some pretty important (not celebrity important, business, society and politician important) people basically told "live with it or leave." No one is willing to alienate fifty other customers because of one obnoxious a-hole that wants to do something like smoke. If I was eating in a restaurant and saw that being allowed, I'd call a cop myself. It's against the law here, and no matter where you are, if "the management" says "no smoking," and you insist on it, your status just got downgraded from "guest" to "trespasser." Trespassers will be arrested, no questions asked.

It happens at other restaurants as well. I was fired when a non-celebrity fabricated a story in order to get a free meal/gift card from a certain cheesy tourist trap shrimp restaurant. Waiters are dispensable, unfortunately. And it's even more unfortunate that there are people - celebrities and non celebrities - who think of waiters and bartenders as nothing more than lower level food robots. Luckily, I don't work in the food industry any more.

That is just one side of the story. Some how I doubt it went down exactly in that manner.

No kidding. First off, who gets "laid off" from a restaurant? I've worked restaurants for 20 years, the only way out is getting fired, quitting, or the restaurant goes out of business. There's no "lay offs." And if they DID "lay him off," it was because they were doing him a favor so he could collect unemployment, most likely.

This sounds like a pantload. The manager would fire him if he knew he pissed of Spacey? So the owner is willing to lose his business license by letting someone smoke in his restaurant against the health and fire codes? Yeah, I really don't think so. After 20 years in the business, I've yet to ever hear of an owner willing to risk his own livelihood, or at the very least a few thousand dollars in fines and lost business, just to allow a celebrity to break the law. I have, however, seen many waiters make up bullsh!t excuses and outright lies for why they got canned. And I'm pretty sure Spacey is aware of not being allowed to smoke in a restaurant, it can't be the first place he's ever run into it.

Actually, I see this type of behavior all the time. I'm seen many businesses allow illegal behavior or special treatment to guests. I've seen NBA stars get away with demanding "Black Only" service staff, big wigs given access to hookers and drugs, staff fired for "offending" VIP's by not allowing violations of law/company policy, etc. I, personally, was almost disciplined for trying to abide by FEDERAL money laundering prevention laws that a celeb didnt want to follow. Business owners want celebs for their money and for the status of having them in their establishment. They will break rules, laws, or company policy to maintain that. And they will fire any employee, no matter how loyal or hard working, that may jeapordize that.

Kevin Spacey used to be a nice guy. I met him years ago. However, stardom goes to people's heads. I would bet he's changed. What a shame!!
