Kate Winslet Wins Lawsuit After Being Labeled 'World's Most Irritating Actress'

Don't call
Kate Winslet "the world's most irritating actress," or you'll end up owing a lot of money.
The Oscar winner successfully sued British tabloid The Daily Mail after the publication gave her that title and accused her of lying about her fitness routines. The newspaper has been forced to pay $40,000 in damages and apologize,
WENN reports.
According to the actress, the article -- titled 'Should Kate Winslet Win an Oscar for the World's Most Irritating Actress' -- "injured her personal and professional reputation."
She also felt "distressed and embarrassed" after the story was published.
"I am delighted that the Mail have apologized for making false allegations about me. I was particularly upset to be accused of lying about my exercise regime and felt that I had a responsibility to request an apology in order to demonstrate my commitment to the views that I have always expressed about body issues, including diet and exercise," Winslet said after the ruling.
"I strongly believe that women should be encouraged to accept themselves as they are, so to suggest that I was lying was an unacceptable accusation of hypocrisy."

Kudos to Kate! It's going to make those who want 'free speech' mad, but I'm glad to see someone fighting back against the hyper-negativity, harshness and disrespect I see so often in the media and by entertainers. Yes, entertainers have to make a living too, but, can't they be more creative than making fun AT people. Yes it makes us laugh and feel better about ourselves, but at the expense of someone else. We can all aspire hirer and I hope those who trash others will perk up and take notice of the Kate case!

Awe poor little Katie got her feelings hurt. The big Bad newspaper wroe some not so nice things about her. Booo Hoooo!
Man maybe I should "sue" the next person that said thought or wrote something ugly about me.
Hell I wouldn't get nothing but laughed at.
Kate Winslet is so worried about her rep both personally as well as professionally, Why not worry about something that is more imporant like, oh I don't know, War, or AIDS, or maybe even how to help the homeless, orthe run away kids that are living on the streets all over the world

in this country it is freedom of speech until you say something

Why would she be annoying? She's talented and seems to keep her personal life on the down low.
I hate the tabloids - and congrats to her on her win. Tell them to go after Paris or Lindsay. Those deserving of the negative press.

I am guessing you do not like Paris and Lindsey you are suggesting it be ok for them to be insulted in the press. Wouldn't that just make it so they can do the same as Kate and sue because they too are embarrassed? I mean seriously that is fine you want to congrats on her victory but turning around and saying it should be directed to some one else is a bit hypocritical.
She wasn't the most irritating actress before the lawsuit, but she is now.

Lady Lia, you need a brain transplant. Printing lies while calling someone else a liar and a fraud who is in a profession exposed to public scrutiny and depends on approval ratings to make a living is hardly what you are describing. And freedom of speech does not mean you have the right to spew brainless opinions to millions of gullible people in order to sell trashy tabloid magazines.

First off it is not like it is the first time a tabloid said some thing bad about a star. It isn't even close to the worst thing that has been said about a star. I am not going to go in the fact that I personally think they were very nice about just leaving it as the most annoying because that is being way to kind in my opinion. With out Titanic would we even know who she is??? Any ways, get over it. I have said this a million times and I will say it again. You are over paid because you are a star. Part of being a star is to have people talk about you, follow you, take pictures of you, and basically take away all privacy. It sucks I know. I personally would hate it. But that is why you get paid millions. I have an idea your salary can go down to a "normal" one and you can be out of the public eye. I suppose you wouldn't like that. As for it embarrassing you. A good way to prevent that is to stop making movies because you are embarrassing your self.
