Wondering why 'Quinn Gray,' 'Jim Nantz,' 'Election Day 2009,' and 'Dickinson State University' are surging in Google Trends? We can shed some light on the mystery. Google Trends provides the hottest keywords of the hour. Though the results change frequently, at any given time the list offers a snapshot of what's hot in the world of entertainment news. Here's what's steamin' today...Kate Gosselin Interview with Natalie Morales – The irony of 'Jon & Kate Plus Eight' getting cancelled is that the title characters are getting more coverage than ever before. Not the "Eight," of course. They've been barred from appearing on TV ever since Jon delivered a cease-and-desist letter to TLC in September. In place of a scheduled episode, TLC ran a special between Kate and Natalie Morales of NBC news last night titled 'Kate: Her Story.' Like we hadn't heard it all before... Well, most of it at least. At one point Kate spoke about how TV is now her job. "It has become our primary source of income... At this point I can't go back." She hinted TLC may air a 'Kate' show in the near future.
Quinn Gray – Quinn Gray is either the victim of a an elaborate kidnapping plot or she's a co-conspirator in a scheme to extort $50,000 from her wealthy husband. Gray's lawyers appeared on 'Today' this morning to convince the public that their client was having a psychotic episode when she ran away with a gas station worker and tacked a ransom note onto the front door of her $4 million Florida home. Quinn's husband Reid is standing by his wife.
Dickinson State University – Three members of the Dickinson State softball team went stargazing in rural North Dakota on Sunday. They haven't been seen since. One of the women placed 2 phone calls to a friend before vanishing. Those calls reportedly included "hysterical noises." But a missing girl's father appeared on 'Good Morning America' today saying the call for help "comes across as sounding more like an accident of some kind." According to him, the police do not suspect foul play.
Jim Nantz – Looky here, another sportscaster marital mess. NFL on CBS talking head Jim Nantz has been ordered by a Connecticut judge to pay his ex-wife $864,000-a-year in alimony after Nantz admitted to dating a 29-year-old woman before ending his 26 year marriage with his wife. That's a pricey extramarital affair, if we've ever heard one. But at least he came clean. Oh, and God bless America. In Pakistan Mrs. Nantz probably wouldn't have gotten anything.
Election Day November 2009 – Speaking of democracy and freedom and all that good stuff, today is election day in various places across America. New mayors may win office in New York, Boston, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Detroit. Governor is up for grabs in Virginia and New Jersey. And voters in Maine and Washington will be punching chads either for or against gay marriage.
Brett Myers and Cole Hamels – The only thing more exciting than opponents butting heads is when teammates tussle. That's what happened between fellow Philadelphia Phillies Brett Myers and Cole Hamels in the clubhouse after their team beat up the Yankees in last night's Game 5. Hamels, who put up a lackluster effort on the mound a couple days prior, had publicly expressed his desire for the season to be done with. But last night Myers reportedly approached Hamels in the locker room and said, "What are you doing here? I thought you quit." The two were separated before the situation could get out of control.
