Rihanna 'Woke Up as Britney Spears' After Chris Brown Attack

In the latest issue of Glamour, Rihanna is honored as one of the Women of the Year (along with Michelle Obama.) The singer opens up to the magazine about the events after her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown attacked her, her personal growth in the last year, her latest album and how she recovered.

"I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears. That was the level of media chaos that happened the next day," she says in the interview. Read More Inside

Her message: "My story was broadcast all over the world for people to see, and they have followed every step of my recovery. The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that. I want to give as much insight as I can to young women, because I feel like I represent a voice that really isn't heard. Now I can help speak for those women."

Her growth: "I am stronger, wiser and more aware. You don't realize how much your decisions affect people you don't even know, like fans."

Relationships: "I want to find love in the next 10 years -- that will be pretty annoying if I am 31 and still have never been in love!"

Her comeback: "My friends and family have been extremely supportive, and everyone has been there for me. But at some point you are there alone. It's a lonely place to be-no one can understand. That's when you get close to God."

how disgusting. rhianna gets the crap beat out of her for grabbing his phone and hitting him first, and that makes her a "woman of the year" oh for god sakes this has to be the ultimate PITY vote. i won't even buy cover girl because she is involved. i'm frickin glad i don't spend my money on glamour magazine. I know dogs that deserve woman of the year more than her.

Woman of the year? Really? I have nothing against the girl but I haven't read anything about charity work, or anything that would constitue an award. Nothing personal. Kind of like the Nobel prize for our prize of a Commander in Chief. The only thing that they've accomplished from my seat is that they managed to stay out of jail.

I'm a big Rihanna fan. But for herself to call herself more wise makes me think "ookaaayyy?"
wasn't she back with him a couple weeks to months AFTER the attack, and asking the judge for a lighter sentence on Chris Brown? That's not wise, it wasn't smart. I wish Rihanna, and other victims of abuse would be SMART and realize that their attackers aren't gonna change, and deserve the most punishment possible!

Get beat up and become women of the year? Really? I can not think of any thing else that happen this year but that, so that is the only conclusion I can come to. Let's be honest here about all of this she is full of... Well you know what. People can learn from her? How? 1: She got back with him. 2: Wasn't she instigating it??? 3: You can not speak for women. Sorry you are an idiot if you think you handled any of that right. I hate to say it but bad publicity is still publicity. And that is what it was. I mean seriously why are we still talking about it. Because you are using your "tragic" story to keep you in the head line. Which is pretty sick. But I guess if you like your fame to be recognized that way more power to you.

This just goes to show how screwed our values are to make some r&b/pop star Woman of the Year because she got into a fight w/ her b/f. i highly doubt she would've stayed away from chris if the judge hadn't made her & it's not like she has set up a foundation for abused women or spoken at any schools or functions against it- the reason why is simple, because she knows her part in it and her hands aren't clean. i am happy she has moved on but, an award is uncalled for.
