December's Playboy cover girl Joanna Krupa is standing up against women who view the men's magazine as sexist and demeaning. "I think they suffer from lack of knowledge and tunnel vision... What is feminist about discriminating a photo shoot just because it involves female (partial) nudity that happens to give men pleasure? Pathetic," Krupa told Fox New's Pop Tarts. What really upsets her is that actresses like Kate Winslet and Halle Berry can win Oscars after having performed intense sex scenes -- yet her shoot in Playboy will cause an outcry. She believes Playboy is a tasteful magazine that is nothing compared to what's going on in other media like movies and TV. "As for movies, over the years violence has become more graphic and bodies more naked even in Academy Award winning films. The excuse that nudity and even full blown sex-scenes are 'artistically required' is laughable, as that would imply that all movies from the old days (that didn't contain love scenes) were less artistic. So it simply comes down to 'sex sells.'"
Krupa, who appeared on 'Dancing With The Stars,' believes posing for Playboy is empowering for women. "There are several great reasons why female celebs line up to shoot Playboy: finally a woman gets paid more than a man for comparable work, she gets to set the rules, gets to be in a real team work with other women, as many key positions at Playboy are in fact held by women! She brings in her creative ideas, gets involved in the photo selection and ends up with something she co-created through and through," Krupa said.
So how will her new cover and photo spread look? "I really don't display more skin than I saw on my last beach trip to St Tropez - and there were plenty of children running around. So, my cover and spread are sexy without being shocking," she said.

On the one hand, I understand where she's coming from. On the other, she's completely wrong to talk about Kate Winslet. Yes, Kate is nude in several films, including the one for which she finally won an Oscar. The difference that Joanna seems to miss is that Playboy is all about sex while Kate's movies are not. I mean, do you really think that horny teenagers were going to see The Reader in order to see Kate's breasts? I seriously doubt it considering the small amount of money it made. It's a dark, serious film that happens to feature sex. It was not made to sell to men to jack off to. I actually don't even have that much of a problem with Playboy. I think porn in general can be demeaning to women but I also believe in an individual's freedom to do what they want. If Joanna wants to be in Playboy, fine. Just don't act like it's empowering when the only people who will be buying it are men who want to get off to it. Playboy IS porn, albeit in a relatively tame way. Kate Winslet's movies are not porn. They're movies in which sex is part of the plot. The two are totally different, and while I don't give a damn about Joanna being in Playboy, it's ridiculous to compare her to Kate.

I see jealousy rearing its ugly head. Are all of you women so insecure that it bothers you to see a beautiful woman make a wad of money by showing off her awesome body. There is no penetration in Playboy so its not really porn like the aforementioned movies with Kate and Halle. 30 years ago those movies would have been rated X. Its empowering to women because showing us a little flesh lets you control us, unless you have too much flesh and we don't want to see it. Get a life and get over it. By the way, I'm 47 and have never bought a Playboy or watched any porn.

"Empowering", hmmmm.....Why is personal power so damned important anyway? Why the struggle for power, the lust for power, the greed to have more power than this person or that race or that sex? Why isn't the power to live and to breath and to eat and hug your kids and walk your dog, or go fishing, play monopoly, go out for pizza, enough? Why the hell does anyone need any more power than that?

What this silly twit doesn't understand is, while Berry and Winslet may have been nude in a movie, the purpose of those movies wasn't for some guy to "pleasure" himself while watching it. The spreads (no pun intended) in Playboy are meant to arouse and sell magazines because of it. Krupa can try to rationalize it any way she needs to, but the bottom line is she's trash who can in no way be compared to Oscar-winning actresses who actually have a talent.

Yes nude photography is beautiful and considered art and correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never seen a classic nude painting involving a woman who posed for the painter by sticking her cooter in the painter's face or bending over on all four's baring ass and everything included..
I've taken indecent sexually graphic pictures with my ex's before when I was young, stupid, naive and didn't think of the results that one day my kid might find them on the internet..

empowering? Where does she get her moral values? Great role model she is. I was actually rooting for her on dancing with the stars. Putting down actresses for sex scenes and nudity doesn't make herself look better. I think they're both wrong. Sex is private and so are our bodies. Disgusting that men get off looking at naked women (partial or not) in magazines, tv, etc...

Kate Winslet is the Best Actress of our time. Kate is an A-lister and desrves it. Beautiful! Joanna has lost my vote on DWTS with that comment.
