Rue McClanahan Hospitalized With Heart Condition, Will Miss Gala in Her Honor

'Golden Girls' star
Rue McClanahan revealed today she's in the hospital getting "maintenance on the old ticker," and will miss an appearance at a gala event in her honor. According to
SFGate.com, McClanahan was hospitalized this week for heart bypass surgery.
PinkPaper.com is reporting she's suffering from acute cardiac illness.
"My darlings, I'm just devastated that I am going to have to miss my own tribute," McClanahan, 75, said in a statement from her hotel room. "Unfortunately, my doctor has laid down the law, and I'm currently having some maintenance on the old ticker."
She added: "Trust me, I'd much rather be in San Francisco having fun and being adored by all of you."
'Golden: A Gala Tribute to Rue McClanahan' was scheduled to take place Nov. 14 at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco and would have featured clips, a sing-along to the 'Golden' theme and look-a-like contest. McClanahan played saucy retiree Blanch Devereaux on the popular series.
The show's producer, Marc Heustis, told
SFist.com he hopes to reschedule the event after the honoree heals up.
McClanahan's castmate Bea Arthur (Dorothy) died in April at 86, while Estelle Getty (Sophia) passed away last July at age 84. Betty White (Rose), 87, continues to be a busy actor in Hollywood, and recently made a cameo on '30 Rock' where Tracy Morgan's character called her to ask if she was going to die any time soon.

Have always loved the show. Speedy recovery to you Rue. Be glad your bypass is taking place now because once the liberals get there hands on our healthcare system, folks in your age bracket needing life or death procedures will be told to "take a pill". Or, should I have said those without wads of money will "take a pill".

Dave...Thirty years ago, the Democrat governor of Colorado, Richard Lamb, said that it was the "duty" of the elderly to die quickly. He meant that the healthcare costs for them were dragging down the funds available for younger people as long as the elders lived. That viewpoint still pervades the thinking of liberals of all stripes to the great danger of all of us who are considered "seniors." They view their own lives as of supreme value, but not so the lives of older people like Rue and me. We are worthless from their perspective because we do not support their Godless agenda and do not pay enormous taxes.
We do not know how the new healthcare legislation will be written or if it will ever be passed in any form. However, if passed, it is sure to reduce to some degree the funding available for the elderly because they still think it is our "duty to die." As you might imagine, we think that it is long past time for them to exercise their duty to die and would rejoice to help them along in doing that particular duty.
I hope Rue has had the foresight to validate her passport to heaven (Luke 9:23f) before her date of departure which is much more likely should she decide to let the surgeons cut on her. There is a better way (see my later post).
