Rue McClanahan Hospitalized With Heart Condition, Will Miss Gala in Her Honor

'Golden Girls' star
Rue McClanahan revealed today she's in the hospital getting "maintenance on the old ticker," and will miss an appearance at a gala event in her honor. According to
SFGate.com, McClanahan was hospitalized this week for heart bypass surgery.
PinkPaper.com is reporting she's suffering from acute cardiac illness.
"My darlings, I'm just devastated that I am going to have to miss my own tribute," McClanahan, 75, said in a statement from her hotel room. "Unfortunately, my doctor has laid down the law, and I'm currently having some maintenance on the old ticker."
She added: "Trust me, I'd much rather be in San Francisco having fun and being adored by all of you."
'Golden: A Gala Tribute to Rue McClanahan' was scheduled to take place Nov. 14 at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco and would have featured clips, a sing-along to the 'Golden' theme and look-a-like contest. McClanahan played saucy retiree Blanch Devereaux on the popular series.
The show's producer, Marc Heustis, told
SFist.com he hopes to reschedule the event after the honoree heals up.
McClanahan's castmate Bea Arthur (Dorothy) died in April at 86, while Estelle Getty (Sophia) passed away last July at age 84. Betty White (Rose), 87, continues to be a busy actor in Hollywood, and recently made a cameo on '30 Rock' where Tracy Morgan's character called her to ask if she was going to die any time soon.

I am from a family of doctors, and if I were in Rue's situation, I would take massive amounts of the best brand EPA/DHA, Coenzyme Q10, L-Arginine, B12, B6, Tocotrienols and anything else I could find through extensive research (www.lef.org)that might help. These are just the things that pop immediately into my mind. Then I'd take all of them several times a day. Doing that faithfully every day would probably allow me to avoid the surgery altogether. All surgery is inherently dangerous, and serious surgery like she is contemplating can easily result in death for anyone at her or my age (75). If my arteries were clogged, I would add massive amounts of Sarapeptase and Grapefruit Pectin. Either one would do the job, but both together would clean out every blood vessel in my body like new. I have taken and do take all of these almost daily as a preventative measure since I am in perfect health. But that's just me. I like living. Go figure.

My heart hit bottom when I heard that you were in the hospital. I just loved watching you on the show. You were good. I always thought you are so beatiful and I love your eyes. They are so blue, when I saw them I alway thought of my dad as he had blue eyes just like you. I would love to meet you, but I know that will never happen, so just stay well and keep your chin up. I love you and hope you keep trying. Take care. Lynn
