Whoopi Gets Her Wizards Mixed Up in Interview With Ian McKellen

Sir Ian McKellen stopped by 'The View' on Thursday for a friendly chat about his latest project, but ended up schooling Whoopi Goldberg on the difference between Dumbledore and Gandalf.

After discussions about his TV series 'The Prisoner' and a semi-testy exchange with Elisabeth Hasselbeck about flu shots and government health care, McKellen got asked: "Are you coming back in 'Harry Potter'?" The question, from the show's moderator, silenced the audience and confused the rest of the panel.

"Well, if I were Michael Gambon, I might. But I don't play Dumbledore," he explained. "I play in 'Lord of the Rings.'" [crickets]

The mistake was chalked up to Whoopi being "under the weather," but McKellen didn't seem to care. "One wizard, much like the rest of them."

McKellen revealed production will begin next year in New Zealand on two films based on the 'Rings' prequel, 'The Hobbit,' where he'll be playing Gandalf the Grey yet again.

Actually it was the British fellow who started the gov health issue with his remark. He was being eletist about British Socialist Welfare/health. And truth be told folks die waiting their turn for the most routine of procedures, but procedures, when put off for months, leave them dead. His British Health care system is flawed. But, again, it was him that made the snide remark about ability to get the H1N1 flu shot if he wanted it. And when she tried to challenge him on his insult she was overtalked.

No, Elisabeth started the whole thing by asking him if he had been vaccinated.

With such a short segment alotted to Ian McKellen, they should have focused more on his life, career and upcoming projects.

I love Ian McKellen--He was brilliantly subtle in getting his views on health care across (though I doubt anyone can get through Elizabeth's thick noggin). He is so poised and gracious, and open with his beliefs, his sexuality, his stand on politics. Love him!

Whoopi is an idiot. She is just a stupid liberal who wants all of us poor people to pay for all those lazy welfare pigs. Elisabeth is the only one on the show with any brains or class. Joy is a disgrace to the human race. Sherri is OK most of the time. It's because of Whoopi and Joy that I quit watching the show. Just a bunch of loudmouthed liberals trying to trash Elisabeth.
