In response to RIhanna's interview with Diane Sawyer, Chris Brown tells MTV News that he wishes the specifics of the night he attacked her had remained between them.
"While I respect Rihanna's right to discuss the specific events of February 8, I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us," he says in a statement.
"I do appreciate her support and wish her the best. I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept accountability for my actions. At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God," the singer added.
During Sawyer's questioning, RIhanna revealed how Brown had bit her, and put her in a headlock.
"I kept thinking the whole time. 'When's it going to stop?' He had no soul in his eyes. He was clearly blacked out. There was no person," she told Sawyer.
Women are exceptionally good at dishing out verbal and mental abuse and my guess is this situation got pushed to far. By her own admission, she wouldn't let her JEALOUS reaction to a text message go. The authorities should be dealing with this and the fact that Rihanna decides to publicly debate it shows that the her abuse of Chris Brown continues. He is apologetic, and she is looking for sympathy and is vindictive. "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned".
To Chris Brown: No, it should not be private. You did it on a public street and you are a public figure. The arrogance to suggest that this matter stay private after you have benefitted to the extreme from your former publicity tells of the narcissism of your personality that committed this crime in the first place. Everyone needs to know about this regardless of how it embarrasses you
Good for Rihanna for NOT keeping the abuser's secrets. Keeping secret what happens in abusive relationships is how the abuser keeps power over the victim. Chris Brown's reaction bears out his lack of coming to grips with his abuse issues. While being embarassed by the public knowledge of his actions, he should use that exposure to acknowledge and repair himself not blame the victim again.
"The details should remain private??" Are you kidding me? This so-called man is a perfect example of why women are having such a hard time dragging themselves (and their significant others) out of the Middle Ages. At what point should the details become public? when they are on a signed murder confession? He should go to jail and after his fellow inmates are through with him, they should just tell him to suck it up instead of report it--in other words, the details should remain private!
It is a public matter because they are public people in the entertainment world. The world needs to know what a piece of crap this guy is and drive him out of show business. I think he would make a good ditch digger.
IF THAT IS THE CASE.. THERE GOES HOLLYWOOD. YOU DO KNOW THEY ARE FULL OF CRIMINALS.. RIGHT? IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY, THERE IS SO MUCH SEX, DRUGS, AND ILLEGAL THINGS THAT TAKE PLACE AND GET SWEPT UNDER A RUG AND YOU IDOLIZE THESE PEOPLE, GIMME A BREAK! DON'T BE JUDGEMENTAL, THE WROLD (ENTERTAINMENT WORD) IS FULL OF CRIMINALS! IF YOU WANT TO BE "REAL" ABOUT IT
Chris, I do hope you continue getting help. You're comment is one of control. You have no control over her anymore. I am glad she is speaking out, so other girls and women in abusive relationship may learn.
If he had done the same to a man, they would have argued and ended it. However, when a man touches a woman, even after a woman verbally or physically abuses the man, the man is turned over to the police. Typical entertainer to look for publicity over he quarrels. You're right, he should not have hurt her. But it could have been handled like adults. Not like children looking for society to straighten out her problems. The police are for emergencies, not quarrels.
Someone in this forum referred to what went on as a quarrel? Exactly, what do you know about this case because calling it a quarrel is tantamount to you knowing NOTHING about this situation. He beat her; he split her lip, gave her a concussion, lacerated her lower eye, bite her, choked her, smashed her head against the dashboard and then punched her repeatedly inflicting multiple concussions. You call that a quarrel? I think you need to stay away from normal society buddy when you call that a quarrel.
Wow - Trebor and all who agree this was was a "quarrel" makes me wonder if you and the others are abusers, yourself - quarrels don't involve black eyes and cut lips; and the police are there to protect people from these types of "quarrels" but I believe the legal term is domestic violence or assault and battery. And these cases should be made public, whether it is a celebrity or a non celebrity - women need to be aware and keep themselves safe from men such as Chris Brown and those like Trebor and his followers. And Chris Brown took this public when HE FIRST told his side of his story in a baby blue sweater and bow tie, and tried to look apologetic and act as if he was a victim, and to save his reputation; now Rhiana told her side of the story and what she thought and how she felt and save her reputation. He actually got off lightly because regular Joes fot more jail time than he did.
Weaklings like CB don't go after a man. Females are probably the only people in the world he will ever fight- unless he goes to prison where he belongs! This was more than just a quarrel, Trebor. This was a malicious assault with intent to do bodily harm. It could have easily resulted in the woman's death. Some "well meaning" people like to think of the incident as "just a quarrel." The pictures, however, tell the true story. Now, no one, not even Chris Brown, can ever minimize what he did to Rihanna. This was NOT a private matter. It was a very public assault. The police should ALWAYS be called when any member of our civilized society is assaulted by another/others. We have laws to protect the weak from being victimized by the strong. Men will always be stronger than women, no matter how many Zena Warriors or Amazon women there are. It does not take much for a man to overpower a woman. For him to beat her, then, shows him to be a dumb brute - a dumb animal. No less.
Trebor - Argument ? Did you see her? You are an idiot. I had a sister in law that looked like this girl a time or two but who would not get the police involved. Well, the police did get involved when her 13 year old son found her dead with 37 fractures to her head with a baseball bat and 16 stab wounds in her heart where her boyfriend straddled her and stabbed her until the knife broke. So, you go talk ab out something you have a clue about, because your stupidity shows when you make such stupid remarks. Her "Man" is doing live in the Texas state pen but that will not bring her back - moron.
I love your definition of a quarrel. Beating a woman, biting her and trying to toss her out of a car is a "quarrel," eh? Get real and get into the 21ST CENTURY. Women no longer have to put up with men beating them up. Stop minimizing the situation and treat it for what it was, rampant abuse. What a lousy way you must treat women if you think this is okay.

She should have kept her hands to herself also that could have made him black out

Abuse inevitably rears its ugly head in public as well, the ugly perpetrators.
I bet you do wish it were a private matter.

Once he hit her and bit her and oh yeah the head lock it had long passed a "quarrel".

Sure, make it a private matter so this ghetto puke can do it over & over again, no problem. If this ape had a brain he'd be dangerous.
