In response to RIhanna's interview with Diane Sawyer, Chris Brown tells MTV News that he wishes the specifics of the night he attacked her had remained between them.
"While I respect Rihanna's right to discuss the specific events of February 8, I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us," he says in a statement.
"I do appreciate her support and wish her the best. I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept accountability for my actions. At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God," the singer added.
During Sawyer's questioning, RIhanna revealed how Brown had bit her, and put her in a headlock.
"I kept thinking the whole time. 'When's it going to stop?' He had no soul in his eyes. He was clearly blacked out. There was no person," she told Sawyer.
Anyone who thinks Rihanna is not trying to gain something over her recent interview is really in lala land. And that means you MerlitaBread. But hey, she pulled one over on you, so I am sure there are lots of other suckers out there.
So what if she does gain something? He tried to destroy her when he beat her so brutally the night before her Grammy appearance! She should gain something from her experience other than the horrid memories of that nightmarish episode. He is trying to resurrect HIS career, even though he has hardly even taken time out to take a breath since that night! Idiots like you who continue to support his so-called romantic croonings after what he did to his GIRLfriend/love are the ones living in lala land. A sucker is one who is easily cheated or deceived. For a visual, look in the mirror.
This became a matter of public record when it was recorded by the police. CB and Rhianna are public people. Their lives are open book.
But this is a good example of men needing help to not commit violence against women and children. Its a good example of women who need help, getting away from the violence can turn to get help.
Its a good example of the public getting involved and not allowing violence to continue.
Violence begets violence, lets make this vicious circle stop here and now.
Well, Chris Brown wants to keep details between Rhianna and himself, but he sure makes a public spectacle out of everything else. Until she spoke up, the exact details of the assault were not known. Now that it has been made public, I'm sure there is shame to be had. One commentator expressed that his statement that the matter is private and should be kept between them is a form of control. That is right. However, he no longer has control. His statement also eludes to the fact that he still has abusive tendencies and will most likely abuse again. I think that it's great that the details were made public. It'll make the next girl that he "loves" think twice about going out with him. Further, she has done a public service speaking out about abuse and made a good example by leaving and STAYING away from him and the relationship.
Chris Brown made a terrible mistake that night. I believe Rihanna provoked him, but there is no excuse for the physical abuse. Sadly, Chris Brown is not the only entertainer who has beat on women. Its unfortunate for him that he has now been made the poster child of what an abuser is. This is a private matter, and I don't believe that Rihanna coming forward with her story is gonna save any lives. They are both young and dumb and will have to learn from their mistakes just like the rest of us.
And the beat goes on and on and on. There is nothing "private" about domestic abuse. For countless years, the laws protected men/husbands who beat women/wives. The "rule of thumb" actually described the dimensions of the stick with which a husband could lawfully beat his wife. Thankfully, many in society are more enlightened now and domestic abuse is seen as the crime that it is. As long as people continue to keep it as a "private matter" that takes place where "a man's home is his castle" in which he can do what-so-ever he wishes, this scourge will continue unabated. Chris Brown is the poster child of an abuser for his generation. Before him, it was Ike Turner, of Ike and Tina Turner fame. (I had to say that for those of you who don't know.) Ike denied that he was an abuser until the day he died. There were other prominent contenders for the title (e.g.,JAMES BROWN), but Ike won out due to his very frequent and public abuse of Tina. Some people did learn and lives were no doubt saved, but this is the type of lesson that bears repeating. That is why Rihanna MUST speak out. The gansta/rap era has made the abuse of women seem more acceptable. It teaches some young (and old) men that this is the way men are supposed to treat "their women." Well that is not how a real man treats a woman. No woman should have to put up with a man who beats her. It is a CRIME - not a mistake, and certainly not a private matter. Rihanna will do society a great deal of good if she is the face and voice against domestic abuse. She may be young, but she is not dumb and her voice should not be silenced!
Look, I don't care for either one of them. No reason anyone has to air their dirty laundry, UNLESS THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO GAIN. If you think for one second she did the interview in order to "save others", then you are more gullible then I thought. She is a tart and she needs to go home and grow up. For that matter, they both need to get out of the limelight and get an education. In a few years the only thing anyone is going to remember about either one of them, is they were involved in a domestic quarrel that resulted in violence. They are both has beens.
Little Boy Brown {youre surely not a man} -- you are the epitomy of the clueless, self-absorbed "its all about me" celeb. once you touch a woman - or anyone - inappropriately or do them harm, you lose all right to privacy. you deserve multiple years in prison. and you surely have no business being with ANY woman until you learn humility and take accountability for your actions. what a pathetic soul. praise God that Rihanna saw the light!
Has the real story actually been told? Did Rihanna physically assault CB first? What happened after he received the "text" from the mystery woman? I feel that the media and general public are being biased towards CB because of his gender. Domestic violence is wrong whether the aggressor is a man or women. I have seen situations in public where women have pushed, slapped and even punched their "man". And of course, the man didn't retaliate for fear of being charge with a domestic battery. Sad to say, but women in the United States of America are not the docile individuals that they protray to be in the courts, workplace or home. Just saying what allot of people won't say.
Did you even watch her interview? Rhianna DID NOT touch him at all. God we wonder why people still accept women being abused and killed daily. And even if a woman touches a man first he could have parked the car and left or called the police.
Of course he wants it to be a private matter because he knows his career will never be the way it could have been. Sorry but it's not private when you are driving around in a residential area abusing your girlfriend because she wanted to know why you are still talking to an ex girlfriend who sent you a text. When her screams are loud enough to wake up people out of their beds because you are biting her like an animal you have lost all rights to keep things private. Just from this statement of his he has not even begun to learn his lesson. Rhianna if you can save one girl, woman, or man from accepting abuse from a loved one coming forward will be all worth it. As for keeping private, how come you are doing interviews Chris Brown? To try to save your career not out of accepting responsibility!
LOOK if the man is so much stronger than don't mess with him, especially if you know he is like that, stop instigating, she has money for a hotel why could she have not been the bigger and stronger person. And L I don't need to go back to school to find out why people stay in an abusive relationship. It is because they are STUPID.
I hope, nay, I PRAY that your daughter or sister gets into an abusive relationship and is SO TERRIFIED of him that she won't leave. That he beats her to the point she's paralyzed or even beats her TO DEATH, so I can sit back and tell you "Well, she was STUPID to not leave him in the first place! It's her own fault" while you're mourning the loss. Even better would be if YOU were being beaten to a bloody pulp on a regular basis.
Your comment that people who don't leave abusive situations are STUPID is ignorant, cruel, and insensitive. I am far from being a stupid person (MENSA qualified, to be honest), and I stayed in two abusive relationships. The second one because I was terrified of what he would do to my children if I tried to leave (he'd been abusing our son from the day we brought him home from the hospital), and because I had no way of supporting my children and myself if I left. I was TERRIFIED for my life and my children's lives. Intelligence has NOTHING to do with whether a woman stays or not.
Dianne I can not believe that you would wish abuse on anyone because you stayed with someone like that. My daughter had she not DIED when she was five months old would have known better. Not to mention she would have had the backup from her family, I would have made sure she had back up and not be beaten to a bloody pulp. Where was your family. The only reason I did not tell my kids did not know cuz I was embarrassed not because I did not have their back up. when I did tell them the guy paid
Rose, while I don't agree with Dianna about hoping you get abused, I happen to agree with her about your statement that women are just STUPID if they remain in a abusive relationship. That statement is someone that is ignorant of what abuse is really about. If you have never been in a abusive relationship you should count yourself lucky. And while I'm very sorry to hear that you lost your baby girl, and you have my sympathy on that. You can't assume your daughter would have "known better" if she found herself in a abusive relationship. No one can predict something like that. Especially when your talking about a 5 month old baby. There are many forms of abuse, and Dianna pointed out very clearly why women stay. The biggest reason is Fear, and the next biggest reason is financial dependence. I myself was in an abusive relationship and I am far from stupid. I stayed because I always got the flowers the next day with an apology that it would never happen again. I never told anyone I was being abused because everyone liked my husband and wouldn't believe he was capable. I finally got out of it and I have never been abused again by anyone and if I see signs of abuse I immediately get away from that person before it becomes abuse. You shouldn't judge why people stay, you haven't been there. You would never understand. Its not as easy as you think to leave.
Brown is a super arsehole, he brutally beats a his girlfriend in public and it's a private matter! Why isn't this coward doing time and servicing all the Bubbas in a pound em in the arse prison.
