Taylor was AMAZING!! What a riot!!! I recorded the show, and my husband and I watched the monologue 5 times! It was that funny!!! I am shocked to say that she is quite an actress!!! Plus she is sooo funny!!! What a class act. So glad she could poke fun at herself and her life as it made me like her even more. What a GREAT show! The cast really hit a home run on this one too!

Since the election sketches about a year ago, SNL has been pretty weak in the comedy department, and I didn't think it could get much worse until I saw this episode. Taylor Swift has got to be the worst host the show has ever had, bar none (and this was definitely the worst episode). In addition to being annoying and extremely monotonous, her monolougue was not funny in the slightest, it seemed to drag on and on endlessly. And as far as her acting goes, I know she's only 19, but she basically sucked what little life there was out of the sketches. The highpoint of the episode was when her character was basically silent during Kenan's Scared Straight sketch in the middle of the show. Apart from that, she was God awful. She really needs to stick with singing (if you consider what she does to be music, glad I have TiVo or I would have had to listen to two doses of Swift shrieking). All in all, she seems like a nice/sweet person, but I don't think she's a very good singer and she needs to keep the hell away from acting, period.

I have to say that I have never liked Taylor Swift because she can't sing well without the studio mixing crew helping her. However, I was really impressed with her on SNL. Her singing was still below par, but I think that girl should try her hand at acting. I watched the SNL episode and was impressed with her. She was funny and kept it together when others broke character and laughed. Her Kate impression was great. What really impressed me was watching her in that "Firelight" spot. It makes me think she may be able to handle a dramatic or suspense film very well. Watch it again and look at her expressions, mannerisms and her eyes. If someone is smart, they will cast her in a suspense film. Put her in a M. Night Shyamalan movie and you will have a hit.

Meh...Taylor Swift is a country singer..case closed. I think people like her because she is very young, 19 and looks cute and somewhat pretty and so the McDonalds eating crowd, Soccer Mom type public like her "safe" and sweet demeanor..same as liking Miley Cyrus. I don't connect with country stars and country songs...but I don't hate her though like I do for Miley Cyrus, but just meh...whatever. Yeah I know, Miley and Taylor are different with style..don't compare the two but I think the people who like her prolly likes the other one too. I don't know why but I think artists like these two have gotten recently in this decade is due to the Bush Years. Clear Channel stations only backing safe and sweet artists...its rubbish.

You blame Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus on ..."The Bush Years????" "Clear Channel stations only backing safe and sweet artists...its rubbish." Pseudo intellectuals are such a bore!

I agree with the Clearchannel comment, and anyone that disagrees with it is "uninformed". The FCC is in a partnership with said company and it is sad that people are buying into such cookie-cutter crap. That being said, Swift actually is talented (very mainstream and country) and beautiful, not my style but you can't take talent away from a person. Good luck to her. At least she isn't metaphorically humping her father's and Disney's respective legs.

What does politics have to do with this? It's morons like you that don't have a clue in life. Taylor was great in those skits on SNL. I don't watch that show much unless there is an actor/actress I like or and artist I like.

Where were you during English and Spelling class you idiot. What the hell does Bush have to do with anything? MUST BE a typical uneducated liberal!! Get a life, loser, nobody wants their kids influenced by a bunch of thugs glorifing criminals. At least Swift has enough talent to play an instrument and actually write original songs.

Seriously dude? What was even the point of you commenting...why did u even what the video online if you don't like her. Just trying to be all mucho metal hardcore hater, get over yourself emo boy, the blond cheerleader doesn't like you, no reason to hate on Taylor. Lame-o. And your comments, next time you try to write something to stir up a crowd or prove a point, or whatever it was you were trying to do, have it...well you know...make sense.

Marty,
I don't imagine there are many stars with whom you connect. But I'm curious. How old were you when you wrote your first song? Cut your first album? Won your first Grammy? Were the host and musical guest on SNL? Miley may not be high on my list, but I don't hate her. I hate gutless, talentless idiots like you, Marty.

Taylor at 19 was a much better host than some of the more experienced folk they've had. I was surprised to see that she's actually quite a good actress. Great singer, but didn't know she had this kind of talent and confidence. I will enjoy SNL more, however, when (if??) they start making fun of Obama and crew the way they made fun of Bush. It's like they're afraid to say anything really bad about Obama and the Bush/Palin/Cheney/republican jokes are getting REALLY old. They're not in office anymore...hellooooo!

Yep, agree completely. Her 'Monologue Song' was jsut plain great, like the rest of the show. Very talented, poised young lady.
