Demi Moore: Poster Girl for Cougars
Posted Monday 09 November 11:30 AM By: PopEater Staff

As a 47-year-old woman with a husband 16 years her junior, Demi Moore is the prime example of a cougar. But don't call her one -- she prefers the term "puma."
"I'm certainly not the first person to be in a relationship with a younger man, but somehow I was plucked out as a bit of a poster girl," she says in the December issue of
W Magazine. "I don't know why that is. But I just kind of step back sometimes and say, 'There is some reason, and what is it that I have to share in a positive way?'...I'd prefer to be called a Puma."
After the jump, Moore talks about her relationship with Ashton Kutcher and the lack of movie roles for actresses her age.

Ashton's positive influence on her life: "The love he has for me makes me a better person by giving me the courage to take risks. I can fail and have someone who loves me just the same. I never knew it was quite possible."
On the lack of movie roles: "The frustrating part is that the type of roles I'd be interested in are not really coming to me. I hate to say it's a function of my age [47]-but yes, I think in some ways it is. The majority of [female] roles are geared between 25 and 35."
How motherhood changed her life: "One of the things that hit me very strongly was the realization that what we do is not who we are. I had worked my whole life. Until I became a mother, that's the only way I measured my value."
On how Twitter is transforming her image: "People are much more interested in what I have to say directly, and that really changed the whole dynamic I have with fans...I can't impress enough the difference in how people are perceiving me. They're getting to see who I am."

I agree, it's her lack of talent that keeps her from any roles.

u guys dont read carefully. she didnt say she cant get a roll, she said she cant get the rolls shes interested in and its because of her age. she needs to aim more towards rolls that are for older people. shes still in a younger mindset and thats the problem.

Hmmm...could it be because she is seen as "just another pretty face" and isn't given the proper opportunities to show what she can REALLY do as an actress?

If Ms. Moore and other female actors insisted their people let them read the scripts submitted by unknown writers, they might end up working far more. I have been summarily dismissed by many actors' people who work for their production companies. Apparently these folks have the right to decide whether or not their bosses read a script. One such worker, not Ms. Moore's, didn't even know what my script was about. She just jumped to a conclusion from something in my query letter and it was the wrong one as it had nothing to do with what I wrote. It's very frustrating for writers as well as actors.

the reason she is not getting roles is that now that she can no longer get by on her looks she has to get by on talent

I agree. She isn't all that! She is 47 (so am I) but SHE looks hagared! I am not the most beautiful but not ugly either. If I had all the makeup and $hit that she does (if ANYONE did) we all could look like that in a magazine. In REAL life she isn't all that. BELIEVE ME

I was going to say... Everytime there is an article about Demi, the whole focus is how she supposedly DOESN'T look her age and hasn't had plastic surgery. If that's the case, why does she consider her age a problem?
I agree - no talent, annoying voice...

She doesn't get any roles because she stinks as an actress, Streep gets tons of roles do does Blanchett, Diane Keaton among others, also that cover is so photoshopped, she is like 47 years old and she is either wearing a corset or she has had the fat cut and sucked off her waist, there is no 47 year old woman who has that skinny of a waist unless she starves herself.

Look at her left hip vs. left leg. Right above and below the brown scarf. Total photoshop error. I guess that answers that.

Oh my GOD! you have got to be joking if you think Demi cant act or wait a minute...... You obviously just dont know any better! Cosider how long it was between fims that Streep even made a come back and Keaton and Blanchet.... Who cares.. The best movie or role Keaton ever had was the GODFATHER. Demi has got it all and she can pick and choose what ever comes her way because she can.. You guys are idiots.

Hey Bonbon, you don't get out much do you? People don't need to "starve" to maintain a nice figure. I know many women in their 40's who still have bodies like a 25 yr old. It's the way the individual's body make up is. Just like girls and boys that are 15 shouldn't be gorging themselves with junk food to one day end up on some talk show crying about how they got picked on for being so fat. You people need to stop thinking that just because someone is still beautiful over 30 that it must be starving, dieting or liposuction. Get out more often and see REAL PEOPLE. What do all live in those suburban small towns where women gain weight 5 months after marriage? Hahahahaha

I am 42 and just as thin as Demi and I do not starve myself nor am I an exercise fanatic. It's an unfair assumption to say she was either photoshopped or starves herself to be that thin at her age.

Just want to say that I am 44 and I am thin and fit. I always have been, except as a teenager. As a teenager I was lankey, but grew into to my 5'11" frame just fine. I do not "starve" myself to death, never have. As a matter of fact I eat more than most women and never show it. I have had three children and still no weight problem. People need to understand that we are all born predisposed to body type and some need to work at it harder than others, than k god I don't have to work at it, it comes naturally. Demi Moore is a fair actress, not a legion but she is no hack either. Some women whatever their age or body type are just jelious, that is why I prefer men over women as friends and lovers!!!

She can not act. Anything she has been in that has been any good - like
Ghost --is because of the other actors not her- Whoopi Gold berg made Ghost a hit

Demi, Honey...Get over yourself. There are no roles for a 47 year old woman who has gone to great lengths to keep herself looking like she's 25. If you were more natural looking, there would be an abundance of roles for you.
