Demi Moore: Poster Girl for Cougars

As a 47-year-old woman with a husband 16 years her junior, Demi Moore is the prime example of a cougar. But don't call her one -- she prefers the term "puma."

"I'm certainly not the first person to be in a relationship with a younger man, but somehow I was plucked out as a bit of a poster girl," she says in the December issue of W Magazine. "I don't know why that is. But I just kind of step back sometimes and say, 'There is some reason, and what is it that I have to share in a positive way?'...I'd prefer to be called a Puma."

After the jump, Moore talks about her relationship with Ashton Kutcher and the lack of movie roles for actresses her age.

Ashton's positive influence on her life: "The love he has for me makes me a better person by giving me the courage to take risks. I can fail and have someone who loves me just the same. I never knew it was quite possible."

On the lack of movie roles: "The frustrating part is that the type of roles I'd be interested in are not really coming to me. I hate to say it's a function of my age [47]-but yes, I think in some ways it is. The majority of [female] roles are geared between 25 and 35."

How motherhood changed her life: "One of the things that hit me very strongly was the realization that what we do is not who we are. I had worked my whole life. Until I became a mother, that's the only way I measured my value."

On how Twitter is transforming her image: "People are much more interested in what I have to say directly, and that really changed the whole dynamic I have with fans...I can't impress enough the difference in how people are perceiving me. They're getting to see who I am."

Why is everyone giving her such a hard time? She's never really been one of my favorites, but she seems to have a good attitude and obviously takes care of herself. I detect a lot of jealousy on these posts. I've never been an actress, but I think she has a point. She doesn't look 25 and she certainly doesn't look 50. I will concede that she is a little stiff in her acting, but give me a break, there is a reason there is only 1 Streep. She's phenomenal.

Why doesn't this woman just get lost so we don't have to see her in the headlines. She did one movie years ago and it is now history. She left her husband to be with another man who was just being born when she was 16 years old. A couger and not a very attractive one. UUUUGGGGGGHHHHH...who wants to see those bones sticking out...YUCK!!!!!
Poor Ashton...bet he wishes he would have dated someone HIS AGE~!

Her Husband is only with her because of who she is. He is getting movies, commercials and so on. He is also NO TALENT! He is a nobody. The both of them should go away. Her and her ugly no talent daughter too! That family is a joke. we are all tired of hearing about them ALL.

You have something against cougars for sure. Doesnt matter though she is in a loving relationship with a handsome man. She was out of the business for a while to raise her kids and that is what killed her career. Not her supposedly bad acting, or sexy young looking body. In hollywood you drop out of movies for a few years you are a has been. She can act and act well if given a good script

I think that her career has just kind of fizzled out, some actresses still get roles (like Helen Miren) but those actresses never really got by on just their looks like Demi. I think the same thing will happen with actresses like Cameron Diaz, they have looks now, but that's going to fade and someone younger will come along to take their place. Demi still does look amazing, if I was her, I would just enjoy my life now with Ashton and her family, it's not like she has to work cause she needs the money!

Demi's not working because she's not out there looking. What hurt Demi was Ashton. The media picked up on him and left her in the dust. As far as roles, there are plenty of movies that have come out for older actressess. She just doesn't want to work in film anymore, and why not? She doesn't have to. Alimony plus gets her by. I thought she did well in Ghost as she had some strong actors with her. I didn' care for anything else she did. She didn't pick the right roles when she was younger.

Demi needs to quit whining! She played the young little sex kitten to the lack of acting ability against the actresses of the 80's and now can't get a role. Go to the thing you do best-nudity and sex scenes! That will get 'em all talking again. search online and you'll find the nudies she posed for when she was breaking into the business. No plastic surgery? Find these photos and tell me her breasts are natural now! Tired of actresses and actors complaining-they should get a real f#$king job like the rest of us and then they would realize how f#$king lucky they are!!!!

I bet if she has stayed with Bruce she would have tons of Movie deals now. Being with Ashton ruined her. I think she was beautiful. now I look at her now and think she is a plastic surgery junkie to look good for her younger husband..Nothing wrong with a little nip and tuck, but she has really went all the way...

Frankly, bone skinny is not the least appealing to me, but that aside, I NEVER thought she was especially attractive. Although she is intelligent, Demi has this sorta hardened look that I aliken to uneducated, trailer trash type women. But compared to Jessica Parker (Sex In the City) shes beutiful. Jessica is just F'N dog butt ugly with a horse face. I mean come on..that nose is the worst for someone being compared to great looks. MOST men I've talked to agree.

You know I have heard so many men make that comment about Sarah Jessica Parker, even my own daughter said she was very unattractive. I am glad to hear you say that skinny women are not appealing, I was very obcessed with my weight and when I turned 40 I got down to under 100LBS. My son who was 17 at the time really got scared and asked me to either get help or start eating right. I am now at a healthy 125 lbs and feel great, but the image that Hollywood portrays is stick thin.

I beg to differ, same age range as her and I have had NO Plastic surgery, no boob job, ect.. Not everyone is a walking zip code, some of us are very particular about what we eat, excercise, ect.. Since you seem to think she is all that, you settle for cheap plastic, and someone who is about money. I have been told by MANY people that I look 30 and I have left that to Mother Nature and no BAD HABITS. Can you still wear jeans from High school? I can and PROUD of it, Jordache size 6.
