Demi Moore: Poster Girl for Cougars

As a 47-year-old woman with a husband 16 years her junior, Demi Moore is the prime example of a cougar. But don't call her one -- she prefers the term "puma."
"I'm certainly not the first person to be in a relationship with a younger man, but somehow I was plucked out as a bit of a poster girl," she says in the December issue of
W Magazine. "I don't know why that is. But I just kind of step back sometimes and say, 'There is some reason, and what is it that I have to share in a positive way?'...I'd prefer to be called a Puma."
After the jump, Moore talks about her relationship with Ashton Kutcher and the lack of movie roles for actresses her age.

Ashton's positive influence on her life: "The love he has for me makes me a better person by giving me the courage to take risks. I can fail and have someone who loves me just the same. I never knew it was quite possible."
On the lack of movie roles: "The frustrating part is that the type of roles I'd be interested in are not really coming to me. I hate to say it's a function of my age [47]-but yes, I think in some ways it is. The majority of [female] roles are geared between 25 and 35."
How motherhood changed her life: "One of the things that hit me very strongly was the realization that what we do is not who we are. I had worked my whole life. Until I became a mother, that's the only way I measured my value."
On how Twitter is transforming her image: "People are much more interested in what I have to say directly, and that really changed the whole dynamic I have with fans...I can't impress enough the difference in how people are perceiving me. They're getting to see who I am."

Demi, its not that there are no good roles for women your age, there are no good roles for anyone. Hollywood keeps producing trash. I turned on the DVR yesterday to look for a current movie I could buy, they all stink. So enjoy your down time or create your own movies to produce Hollywood just doesn't have the writing, producting or directing talent that use to.

I also blame her lack of talent Give me a break she's a borderline B actress, she demands alot of money, and she's difficult to work with other than that it has to be her age

Kind of funny that there are roles for Diane Keaton, Meryl Streep, etc.... and they are older than Demi. She just needs to realize that her talent wasnt as good as she thought.

Demi's right on target... We live in a society that shuns experience in favor of youth and physical... cosmetic beauty.... We see it in TV news reporting and all walks of American life really. This sets us apart from most European countries that value good reporting over smiles and chatter...and experience over youthful inexperience in the work place.

age?? she looks great.. so what? 47 is not old.. im 49.. It's just because the ones a little bit younger keep shoving age in your face.. move the hell on..its just a number.. you little ass-holes.

Yeah Demi, Me too. It doesn't have a thing to wo with the fact that I can't act. They just don't want me cause I'm old. Yup, that's it...

Boy, this is a tough room. LOL.

She's a terrible actress! Hasn't anyone told her that? There are plenty of "older" actresses who don't seem to have any trouble getting good roles. But, wait - they can act! Glenn Close and Meryl Streep to name just two. Maybe she should take a break from the gym and take some acting classes.

give it a few more years and her boy toy will leave her to lol ........ you can only spend so much money till they ant enough to keep that butt and boobs from dropping to the ground age catches up to all of us lol :)

I agree, lack of talent is the reason she is not getting any roles.

I also blame her lack of talent for not receiving any roles.

I think Demi Moore is a great actress...she knows that being a woman in the acting business isn't as flourishing as men her age in the acting business. Men can always get roles no matter how old they are..as opposed to women. Mel Gibson is what 53 or older and he still gets great starring roles. It is younger women that pack in the big audiences..like Megan Fox! They will be saying the same thing about her when she enters the 40ish list! But also..Demi has passed up a lot of movies that were big hits..such as...While you were sleeping...that Sandra Bullock took, because Demi didn't want it! Which is another reason why she can't get the movies she wants..too picky can hurt your career too!

At one time, actress Kathryn Grayson ("Show Boat"..."Kiss Me Kate"), now age 87, had the smallest waist in Hollywood...smaller than Demi's waist. Love Demi's voice, but she needs acting lessons. VERY FEW really good actors today...Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Kate Winslet, Anthony Hopkins, Philip Seymour Hoffman ("Capote"), and a handful of others (if that many more). Miss the REAL HOLLYWOOD we once had. At least we have a FEW good actors today. Better than nada...

COMMERCIAL SUCCESS DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH TALENT AND VICE VERSA. LUCK AND TIMING ARE EVERYTHING. DEMI COULD GET ROLES IF SHE WANTED THEM. THE ARTICLE ABOUT HER IS A CRY FOR VALIDATION. APPARENTLY HER CAREER STILL DEFINES HER EVEN THOUGH SHE SAID IT DOESN'T.

....and maybe she`s horrible to be around!

It's not her age keeping her from roles. Meryl Streep is an older actress and she's always working and is a well renown.

I think shes just mad because her flower became sour...and dried up
