Travoltas Use Family, Religion and Therapy to Cope With Jett's Death

The long road to emotional recovery has been a difficult process for the Travolta family after the tragic loss of their son but they are improving.
"We've been working very hard every day as a family to heal," said
John Travolta in his first interview (with
USA Today) since his son Jett's death. "We partake in spiritual counseling pretty much daily," said his wife
Kelly Preston.
Jett Travolta died after a seizure at the family home on Grand Bahama island in January. He was 16.
The family has re-introduced itself to the spotlight in promotion of daughter Ella Bleu's new movie. '
Old Dogs,' a comedy scheduled for release on November 25th, will be her feature-film debut. "We decided it was OK to come out and promote, to introduce her to the world and to give her a beautiful future in film," said Travolta. "We have our own way of doing it, and it has been helping," he added.
"It's a tricky thing. Sometimes, something that's right for the moment is not right the next day," said Preston. "Being with people who are important to you, being with people that you love, I think that's what has primarily helped us the most. Sometimes, being alone, too," she revealed.
Travolta revealed that coping with his beloved son's death is a daily struggle. His wife added that the "outpouring of love from, really, worldwide has been extraordinary. It's been our friends, our family, our church."

The Jett Travolta Tragedy
Kelly Preston, seen here with her late son Jett and daughter Ella, was set to speak in October about dealing with the loss of her 16-year-old boy, but pulled out of the engagement.

The painful loss has been worsened by a legal case involving a paramedic and Bahamian senator who stand accused of extorting $25 million from the Travoltas with information about Jett's death. The original case ended in mistrial last month and a retrial has been ordered. Neither Travolta nor Preston gave comment.
Hollywood A-listers have lent the grieving family emotional support. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry, that a lot of people have been thinking about them," said
Denzel Washington. "Above everything else, John is a family man," he added. Washington and Travolta starred in '
The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3' this summer. "You need your friends a lot in times like that," John said thankfully.

I lost my son when he was 22 years old on a motor
cycle accident. I know the feeling and it's hard but with a prayer and friends who help accepted and
to let go. Life has to go on. Your son death has a
purpose in your life and with your family. Time to
have changes in your prospective in life. John, good
luck. My heart goes with your family.Don't give up.

I love hearing about people helping people. Especially since it is one of the reason we are put here on earth. Dealing with the death of a love one is hard enough but a death of a child is unimaginable. So people remember we are here to offer healing words of encouragement, a shoulder to lean on, or two arms to carry someone when the journey is to hard to walk.

I have had grand mal siezures for over 25 yrs. I for one know that when I failed to take my medicine,I had siezures. I was also on Phenobarb for nearly 10 yrs.,you do not suppose to be on this medicine no more than 5.It causes severe memory loss, and birth defects,as it did with my second son.I believe all medicines are bad or causes short or,and long term side effects. It is your choice, take the medicine to control what might ill you,or suffer from what ills you.I do worry everyday about the effects that the medicine is causing to my organs,it is one of the hard choices we have to make in life.To control or be controled?

I just want to add that Travolta is one of the best male actors and the press really has not been following this case. Remember Michael Jackson death? That was a "press flu",that ate it up and had left overs for weeks. Travolta is an overall private and good person, with very little drama compared to others. He made not have made the right decision in your eyes, but it is not for you to decide. Have some sympathy and compasion.People who thrive on hate and and anger or resentment, are often stuck in life and will continue to go down.Try looking up for answers, you will be surprised.

DEAR DOND -- I am so very sorry for your loss. May God bless you and give you strength.
My heart goes out to the Travoltas. I don't agree with a lot of their choices, but the fact is that they are THEIR choices. No matter what, they are in tremendous pain right now. We had some friends that lost their son through a tragic accident, he was about 9 at the time. Fortunately, it brought them closer, as many marriages end after such a tragedy. When asked how they were doing several years later, the husband replied, "The load is no lighter, but we are stronger." I hope this is the case for the Travoltas. May they continue to heal, may they find comfort in their memories of Jett, and may they find joy in life again, especially for the sake of their daughter. It seems that is what they are trying to do. May God bless them.

Sadly this was a case of a (CULT) brainwashing a family.Remember Heavens Gate, Branch Dividians look at how strong their influence was, people killed themselves for their so called Mesiah's I'm sure the Travolta's are good people who love their kids very much and are suffering terribly right now, unfortunately they are looking for the answers in all the wrong places.I believe his son is still very much alive just in a different form and dimension, are spirits always live on.

I OFTEN WONDERED ABOUT SCIENTALOGY,SO I CALLED THEM TO TALK TO THEM WHEN I WAS FEELING LIKE I HAD NO ANSWERS(BEING A CHRISTIAN ALSO).,THERE WERE MANY PROBLEMS FACING MY FAMILY. WE HAD LOST OUR BELOEVED GRANDSON AT 20 YRS. OLD DUE TO SOMETHING THAT MADE NO SENSE TO ME.
WHAT I GOT WHEN I CALLED WAS ABOUT HOW MUCH THE BOOKS WOULD COST ME ETC.
I GUESS IF YOUR NOT RICH IT DOESN'T PAY TO BE ONE. I MEAN LISA MARIE PRESLEY IS,JOHN AND KELLY,KIRSTIE
THEY ALL HAVE ALOT OF MONEY TO INVIST IN THINKING WHAT THEY HAVE TO OFFER. AFTER I HAD SPOKEN TO THIS MAN SEVERAL TIMES AND IT ALWAYS ENDED UP WITH MONEY I KNOEW THAT JESUS CHRIST WAS MY ANSWER NOT THEM.
THEY DON'T BELIEVE FROM WHAT I GOT IN MEDICINE AS WE KNOW IT. YET JOHN AND KELLY'S SON I TRULY BELIEVED COULD HAVE BEEN SAVED HAD THEY USED OUR MEDICINE,ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LOOK AT JENNY McCARTHY'S SON.
THEY ARE ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN CHOICE JUST AS I AM. GOD BLESS THEM.
