VOTE: A 'Butch Cassidy' Remake With John Travolta and Tom Cruise?

John Travolta is excited about possibly starring in a remake of the classic 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' with buddy Tom Cruise.

"Someone came up with a good idea - it was a remake of 'Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid' - and there was a rumor that we were gonna do that, and I said to Tom, 'It's not a terrible rumor, it's not a bad idea,'" the 'Grease' star said.

while John could pull off Butch Cassidy, as he does bear some resemblance and with Hollywood makeup, look the part....and play the part! In no way can Tom Cruise play Harry Longbough -the "Sundance Kid"

I love John Travolta.......but Cruise makes me ill.
I would watch John tie his shoes.... but wouldn't pull Cruise from a burning building.

I think Roger Ebert once said it best: Why remake movie classics. They're already ... classics!

What they SHOULD do is remake awful movies that had terrific ideas, and see if they can make terrific movies out of them.

First off, they are both way too old and too old looking for the parts. John is way too fat for the part. To play that part, he would have to be in much better shape and still, it would not be believable. I'd say get Chris O'donnell as the Sundance Kid and George Clooney (gray hair dyed) for Butch Cassidy. Hey, weren't they Batman and Robin?

Leave 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' alone! With a billion film scripts out there, hopefully the studios will produce more than just remakes.
It was a brilliant film then - but remaking it, it won't be - no matter who stares in it.

While the first movie was right on the spot with the actors (who could replace Newman and Redford?) the set designs and (especially) the costuming were horrid. Nothing was period. Courderoy jackets and button down shirts? As a history buff, these things bother me. The acting, however, was superb.

I think Brad Pitt could be a good choice for the Sundance kid; I can't come up with any one for the Butch Cassidy part.

Brad Pitt as "sundance". David Boreanaz (Bones, Angel)as Butch. If you ever watched "Angel", the vampire who played "Spike" would also be fabulous in the role of "Sundance". My ultimate choice...leave the masterpiece alone!
