Lindsay Lohan's Ungaro Fashion Debut Was a 'Disaster,' Says Ungaro

"Lindsay Lohan's collaboration was a disaster." That's the blunt assesment given by Emanuel Ungaro, the founder of the couture house that hired the actress to advise them on a fashion line last month.

"I am furious but I can't do anything about it," fumed the designer during a meeting on Monday night at a film festival in Lisbon. Ungaro, who no longer has any contact with the fashion house that bears his name, said his creation is "in the process of losing its soul," as a result of the Lohan hiring.

The 'Mean Girls' star, 23, worked alongside designer Estrella Archs as a style consultant and debuted her first collection during Paris Fashion Week last month. The work was almost universally panned as an "embarrassment" by the international fashion press.

Ungaro said his isn't surprised that his fashion house is faltering. "That happens to a lot of designers. We were the creators and patrons, responsible for the creation and destiny of our houses. But when we gave up our houses, we gave up our souls."

Lohan's history of hard-partying along with various legal squabbles have derailed her once-promising film career. The shift to fashion was seen as a fresh start for the troubled star.

He has no right to complain. As he said himself, he gave up his house. If he was so worried about "losing his soul" then he would have stayed on board.

But, who in their right mind would hire a washed-up actress with a history of drug abuse and a questionable sense of style to be a consultant on designing a fashion line? Isn't that asking for trouble?

he has every right to complain. it just won't do any good. if you leave the reigns to someone else they aren't guaranteed to see it your way. lohan, as a choice to represent ANYTHING, should be considered foolish. she is a spoiled brat who refuses to grow up and be an adult leader in film. SHE COULD BE, she just isn't. a few years ago, lindsay was as pretty as anyone in hollywood. she wasn't a bad actress. it just makes me wonder who was doing the acting. her or her supposed parents. to the fashionistas....WTF did you expect?!

I don't know why they would hire her she is not really known for her style. I would understand if they would get Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen they seem to be more in that world.

Fashion, like everything else that involves big money, is political. If the critics had liked Lindsay Lohan, they'd have loved her stuff, regardless what it looked like. Let's face it, most of it is ridiculous anyway. Like most things in life, it's not what you know, it's who you know.

Lindsay a good is actress, but I noticed in her last movie that her voice is so deep from smoking...she is throwing her career away and that is a shame! This girl could of been on top,..when you really care you make sacrifices, you don't smoke if your voice is changing, you don't party so much, there are so many more things you do to make it work. Things came to easy for her and she became a spoiled brat and her ego is huge, she needs to become HUMBLE!!

She was never anything special as a actress. A few kiddie movies does not qualify as real talent. Many child actors and actresses can not make the transition and it is obvious Lindsay can't. She is only in the headlines for bad behavior and anyone with a shread of credibility will have nothing to do with her. Her only hope is reality TV which appeals to many people now..you don't need to have any talent for that.

Lindsy Lohan's position at present should be the Alcoholic Poster Girl. She has pretty much ruined her reputation, and what she is doing to herself is making uglyer every day. Gone is the prettyness and the beauty, now she looks weathered and used. I used to be a fan, but now I have moved on, Lohan just has nothing interesting to offer anyone now, her downward spiril in taking her down. Beware Lindsy, on your path there are no stops, only down with no bottom....
