Mike Tyson Arrested at LAX

According to celebrity news/gossip site TMZ.com, former boxing champion Mike Tyson was arrested last night at Los Angeles airport for allegedly assaulting a photographer.

The quick-tempered champ was busted for battery after a bloody confrontation with a paparazzo outside the United terminal. Allegedly, Tyson punched the paparazzo in the face and there was blood everywhere.

TMZ reports that Tyson was at a ticket counter at the United Airlines terminal when the incident occurred. The photographer got punched in the face, hit the ground, got up and began walking, leaving a trail of blood. An LAPD spokesperson said the photographer suffered a minor laceration to the forehead.

Someone at the scene tells TMZ.com that the photographer got very close to Tyson before the boxer struck him. An ambulance was dispatched at 4:39 PM PT to LAX and the paparazzo was transported to a local hospital.

Cops say Tyson and the photographer performed citizen's arrests on each other -- both are expected to be booked for misdemeanor battery. If Tyson is prosecuted, given that he's a former boxing champ, the charge could end up being assault with a deadly weapon.

Tyson's rep says he was travelling with his 10-month old daughter when he was attacked by an overly aggressive paparazzi -- adding the boxer acted in self-defense to protect his child.

At around 8:30 pm PT, Tyson was released on his own recognizance.

The photographer who ended up on the wrong end of Mike Tyson's fist says Tyson got in four good punches and blood was gushing "like a water fountain."

Paparazzo Tony Echevarria claims to TMZ.com:

- He wasn't disrespectful or aggressive
- Mike was initially in a good mood but turned sour when the pap asked about his wife
- Tyson became more agitated when he couldn't find a bathroom and saw the photog shooting him

Who does this piece of plankton think he's kidding? Struck with"Four Good Ones"? by Mike Tyson? He might get somewhere if he was telling the truth.They don't consider Tyson's fists deadly weapons because they're pretty! One good "Tyson Special" would put him into the next county,in the middle of next week,not only cut on the head. Even at my age,if I caught him with "4 good ones",the last 3 would have been administered with the victim on the floor!Running into a properly administered fist,especially an educated one,is like running into a parking meter,head first,at 15 mph. Being struck by that same fist,in the ribs,results in either broken ribs,in a person over 30 yrs of age,or cracked or extremely bruised ribs in someone under 25 yrs. Either one,you don't stay on your feet.You definitely don't shrug it off & you won't be smiling about it for at least 10 days. It sounds to me like this POS engaged & baited Iron Mike with a lawsuit in mind!

While I do not have any particularly positive things to say about Iron Mike, I would have to agree with Grizz338 on this topic. If the pap is telling the truth, he should be receiving plenty of offers from the WWF, UFC, WBA, etc by now. When big Mike throws 3 punches subsequent to the first 'good one', they are merely for insurance, but the deal is likely already closed. Keep in mind the damage he has done on trained, professional, extremely fit boxers while donning gloves... Either the pap has a head like a concrete block or the truth has not been accurately told.

Good for Mike! It's time these paparazzi starting fearing for their lives, just like how they make their victims feel. I can't believe these kind of parasites are even allowed. Only in the crumbling cesspool that is America.

But I agree with him here, should have gave him 4 more!

Let's face it...some of those "celeb" folk thrive on having a camera in their faces, then there are the Mike Tysons of the world who want their privacy respected...perhaps this will be a wake-up call to the PAP "that almighty dollar ain't all it's cracked up to be".

Can you believe this guy is trying to make a citizens arrest on Mike? The Champ should have punched him again....4 punches from Mr. Tyson would make him hurt so bad he couldn't citizen arrest a small child...who is this guy kidding?
